Went for a 5 day break with Daishs.Marvellous hotel and wonderful staff. The bedroom was large and a double and very comfortable with nice decor. The bathroom and shower though slightly dated were fine also. The food ranged from very good to excellent. The evening we had fish and chips was outstanding. The soups perhaps could be a little more flavoursome but that's only a small issue. Some might complain about slow service from time to time, but that's due to shortage of staff in the hospitality industry as a whole. Its not just hotels its also pubs restaurants and other outlets. The dining staff when I was there were brilliant. The entertainment was also very good though I wasn't there all the time

On arrival we were given our room key to which I was hoping to find a lovely harbour view which we booked. Unfortunately I couldn’t see the harbour from my window which was very disappointing so we had to pay for an upgrade for a sea view. The view i have to say was stunning, but the room was needing some TLC. For the price we paid per night the room was unacceptable, being we paid another £60 to upgrade. Where to start… The fridge didn’t work and when i told reception they just said it’s a temperature of a cool box NOT a fridge. (Then don’t say fridge on the web site). Our milk went off. They only provide small sachets of long life milk which I’m not a fan off. The water didn’t come out of the dated shower head properly and being it’s an over the bath shower it was so slippery. The walls were grubby, and the loo roll holder was broken. Severe lack of communication with us ie… no explaining about the bar that’s closes at 5pm and need to order from the restaurant. No telling us about where the spa was or opening times of the restaurant. No telling us about fire exits. The breakfast was ok but no ham or cheese on the continental selection like advertised on their webpage and also on the menu. Lovely view for an expensive price but definitely NOT what i call four star hotel.

Good hotel. Personally I think it’s a little too expensive for what they offer. It’s an old hotel and you can definitely feel that. However, some people like that stuff. Staff were friendly and welcoming which after a long journey is the most important. The room was clean and mostly well equipped to support your stay. Shame we got the road view instead of the beach view.

The hotel is ok, old but trying to keep up, it’s at a very good location, many shops and restaurants around. Everything is just walking distance both Towan Beach and Great Western Beach. If you need a public laundry there is also one very close about 4 minutes. In my opinion I think the management should really try to upgrade their facilities because it’s really old, nevertheless it was a great stay.
