Stayed in the Captain's Suite and absolutely loved it! From the heated bathroom floors, amazing natural light and perfect balcony -- it was everything we hoped! Suite is on the 4th floor, but it's only 3 flights of stairs to get there and it's worth the view. Everything was clean and well kept. Room included plenty of water and snacks for us. Located steps away from the shops and restaurants on Thames and in the wharf. Highly recommend!

Old friends from N.Ireland met and had a lovely reunion at the Castle Inn Newport Pembs. I had the sea bass, which was excellent and my friend the fish, cops and mushy peas. As usual the service was swift , friendly and professional. I also must recommend the Castles Wine List. They should put it online as well as menus. The choice is excellent and more importantly, affordable. My favourite is their Spanish White Rioja . Give them a try Brakfast available to 2pm for sleepy heads lunch and dinners as advertised. Congrats to Glynn ,Alison and all the team….

I don’t usually write reviews, but I was recommending the Harborside Inn to a friend and saw the latest review. My experience was quite the opposite. I selected Harborside because it is an Inn, because it is not a big generic concrete building, because it has unique rooms that feel like home, because it is more personal than a chain hotel. I did book my room in advance, so I knew what the price would be and understood local taxes. I also had seen on the website that there is no elevator and packed my bags accordingly. My room was to die for and had a beautiful view of the harbor. The bathroom wasn’t the biggest but the room more than made up for it since it was much bigger than a standard hotel room size. The bedding and pillows were top quality. I loved the small touches they had like the fresh baked cookies. I also had the good fortune of meeting Alan. I remember him because he was much more than a hotel concierge/receptionist. He was local and gave me fantastic advice. We also talked about our father’s both having been stationed at Newport navy base and he recommended a great book which I bought my dad as a gift about the base. One goes to Newport for its walkability and cozy small town feel. One goes to Newport and wants to feel like part of the community instead of a tourist. Alan welcomed us like family and friends and was a great guide to restaurants, mansion, houses, beaches, and local events. If you are looking to stay somewhere where you feel like part of the local community rather than a tourist, then I most recommend Harborside Inn and I hope you will have the luck of meeting Alan and having him welcome you home to Newport.

After a long day of travel, we arrived in Newport late in the evening with plans to stay at the Hammetts Hotel. Surprisingly, the receptionist there advised us against booking a room at his own hotel, claiming the rooms were very small. Instead, he recommended The Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina (Harborside) and even made a call on our behalf, assuring us we could get a suite there at a much better price. He came across as genuinely helpful, so we followed his suggestion. Upon arrival at the Newport Harborside, we were greeted by Alan, who stated he had no knowledge of the call or the rate we had been quoted. After a rather uncomfortable exchange, we agreed on a price — only to discover the next day that we had been charged $100 more than the verbal agreement. While cost is not an issue for us, we found the lack of honesty and the manipulation unacceptable. We stayed in Suite 16. While the room was spotlessly clean and the bed and linens were excellent, the overall experience was far from restful. The white blinds did nothing to block the morning sun, and the thin windows let in noise from a loud party outside that continued until after 1 a.m. The bathroom was extremely small, with barely any counter space for toiletries. Additionally, the suite was on the third floor with no elevator access, and no assistance was offered with our luggage upon arrival. The complimentary breakfast was extremely basic and low-quality. To be fair, the front desk clerk the next morning was kind, professional, and understanding — though unable to resolve the issue. The cafeteria staff were also very pleasant. In conclusion, despite the cleanliness and comfortable bed, we cannot recommend this hotel due to the lack of transparency around pricing, poor soundproofing, and unprofessional conduct — particularly from the assistant manager, Alan, who welcomed us on the first night. We also find it highly inappropriate that a receptionist at Hammetts would direct potential guests elsewhere under misleading pretenses.

Staff was very friendly, location is great with on-site parking, and the room was very clean. We appreciated the loft room we were in, that had a separate space for our teens upstairs. However, there was a constant dripping noise in our room that seemed to be coming from HVAC system, the loft room upstairs did not have its own TV, and the included breakfast was a bit lacking. Overall a mixed bag for us.

Comfortable room, very clean, comfortable bed and great location within walking distance of lots of restaurants, shops and the nearby shuttle bus. Nice continental breakfast in the mornings. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Nice view of the water from the main room and some of the guest rooms.

The room was very nice, had a very nice view, comfortable bed. The continental breakfast was good with yummy apple bread. Only 2 problems with the location, if you have a large vehicle you may have to park off site. All of their parking spaces are for compact cars except for 2. I had to squish under a carport with a truck, and if those 2 "over sized" spots are taken when you come back, you may have to park off site. The 2nd problem was there was no elevator :( If you don't mind those 2 complaints then you'll probably enjoy the Inn.

A charming inn in the perfect location. Easily accessible to both upper and lower Thames St. Jane and her staff were nothing short of outstanding and their hospitality was first-rate. On-site parking was an added bonus so we just parked the car and easily walked to all the attractions and restaurants along the water. The staff here offered some nice dining suggestions and each one was amazing. You still need to drive to the Mansions, Cliff Walk, and Ocean Drive. Centrally location the Harborside Inn is an outstanding choice for your visit to Newport.
