Everything about our stay was great. The staff were helpful and polite, checkin/out was easy. The room was spacious, clean, warm and welcoming. Great decoration. The bathroom was brilliant, a great shower, big, soft fluffy towels, we loved the Bramley toiletries. Breakfast: good choice menu, promptly served, well cooked and presented, very tasty. We were well looked after. We hope to stay there again.

I had a truly wonderful stay at the Royal Oak. From the warm and friendly welcome to the beautifully decorated, spacious room, everything exceeded my expectations. The room had lovely amenities and although it was at the front of the hotel, it was surprisingly quiet. The bed and linen were incredibly comfortable, and the room itself was spotless. They had a great choice of breakfasts, which was included in the rate. Overall, I highly recommend the Royal Oak and had a wonderful stay - excellent value for money.

Dinned as a family on a cold wet Saturday. Service was good and attentive. However, food was super disappointing, with so much competition locally we had hoped that the food would live up to the location. Food was under seasoned, unimaginative, and lacked basic cooking skills. Bruschetta was toasted bread, with a thin spread of avocado and cherry tomatoes cut in half. Fish and chips, the batter was super thick and chips were hard. It’s a real shame as this could be a go to place.

We stayed one night in Riverswood room on the first floor of the detached cottage. You could not get a better room for three times the price in an upmarket hotel. Very large with huge bathroom. Immaculately clean. Very good supper in front of a log fire. We both had the cod which was cooked just right. The staff were top-notch attending promptly and cheerfully to any of our requests

Had a lovely breakfast last week, and because of the service from Andrea (excellent and friendly host), I came back for just an elongated coffee today when I had a power cut at home! First rate place for food, drink, and just a general warm welcome.

A little overpriced for what it is.
Mostly friendly and helpful staff.
Basic attention to details is lacking.
Needs some serious maintenance and refurb in bedrooms.

Great stay and dinner
Really lovely stay at the Royal Oak. Staff were lovely. Room was great. We also had dinner in the restaurant which was delicious.

Perfect stay
I have stayed here a few times for work and have always had a really nice stay. Rooms are spacious but really cosy with lots of nice finishing touches. The food is excellent and all the staff are super friendly.
