We stayed ten nights at the Freeband Hotel over the summer. The building is beautiful. Location is great. The staff is friendly and helpful. Seamless check in and check out experience. We booked directly through their website and got an early bird deal. It worked out at €200 ish a night, tax included. Good value for money. We weren’t fazed by the small size of our room. It did however have direct vis-à-vis with other rooms; meaning we had to leave our blinds closed at all times. Not much natural light left in an already dimly lit room. Our bed was comfortable. We didn’t have too much noise on our floor despite our room being next to the elevators. We really enjoyed their rooftop bar “broken shaker”. Lovely drinks and food menu. Beautiful views of the city. We did feel the hotel lacked certain amenities. Our bathroom had quite a few cracked tiles. We found housekeeping hit and miss. There were daily elevator issues. Housekeeping didn’t come clean our room two days in a row, the towels had holes and on 25th July we had no hot water to shower. We shared our experience with Brandon at the front desk. He was empathetic and helpful. He immediately offered an upgrade for our troubles. We declined as we didn’t feel it was necessary. When we got back to our room on that day, we had extra fresh towels, two breakfast vouchers, chocolate bars and a bottle of wine. Very thoughtful of them. All in all, we enjoyed our experience. We feel we got what we paid for.
Excellent staff, very helpful the entire stay (reception, facilities service, house keeping, with a special shout-out to Khaoula). Perfect location, in a great neighborhood, with easy subway excess and great food options all around. Great rooms, we had the quietest stay with best sleep here in NY (compared to 5 other hotels during our trip). After checkout, the staff continued to be just perfect hosts, storing luggage until the end of the day and allowing us to freshen up, have a coffee and wait for our taxi (arranged by hotel). Thank you.
Staying at the Martinique New York on Broadway offered a delightful experience. The hotel's prime location provided easy access to Broadway shows and Times Square. The rooms, while compact, were impeccably clean and well-appointed. Service was attentive and professional, ensuring a comfortable stay. The historic charm of the building added a unique touch to our visit. Highly recommended for travelers seeking a blend of convenience and character.

This hotel is in a great location in Manhattan - close to Penn station and a host of subway stations. So much of Manhattan is within walking distance from this hotel! The staff was always friendly and helpful, even though the hotel was clearly very busy. Our room was actually surprisingly spacious for Manhattan standards. Yes, this is not the Plaza, but I found our room to be larger than many Manhattan hotels I have stayed at in the past. Our bed was very comfortable, the A/C worked well, and our room was very quiet. The bathroom was nice and again, large enough to not have to do acrobatics when using the toilet. The shower was large as well and we had great water pressure. The room was overall in very good condition and looked nice. The staff was always friendly, professional and helpful and never seemed rushed or stressed out, even though this hotel was obviously very busy and there were always people in the lobby. I can only recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for a clean and quiet room in Manhattan.
My friend said the location is remote, but it is quieter than Times Square and Central Park. If you want to be quiet, you can live here. There is a big supermarket opposite where you can eat and buy food. Ask the front desk for a hot water bottle
EVERYTHING IS JUST IN VERY GOOD QUALITY FROM ROOM - SERVICE - LOCATION
We even booked for Queen room and Automatically upgraded to King room which gave us the access to a room with a terrace and lounge, all ours. NOT COMMON TERRACE! Couldn’t ask for more 💓
Park South is a real gem of a hotel. Absolutely amazing staff at every level who can't do enough for you. Spacious clean rooms with comfortable beds. Air con noisy but I've never stayed anywhere that has quiet AC. Incredible onsite restaurants one serving a great range of food including wood fired pizzas. Also a very trendy sushi & cocktail bar with excellent dishes. Fantastic location for exploring Manhattan's midtown. Highly recommended.
The location is very good. Perhaps because the hotel is new, it is very clean.
If you are traveling with your family, you will be surprised by the cleanliness.
Check-in was easy and the overnight front desk clerk was quick and friendly. The room itself was suitable. Our king bed was comfortable, shower and water temp were fine, and having the small couch in our room was nice for having an extra spot to keep luggage rather than on the floor. I also like the location, I'm from NY originally and would never spend time in this area when I lived there but as a visitor, the location is great because it's easy to get to subways on the east or west side. The noise however, was awful and I considered changing hotels after the first night but didn't want to deal with the hassle on my vacation. Every morning at 7am we were woken up by other guests coming in and out of their rooms, slamming their room doors shut and talking loudly in the hallways. The room doors have no seal on the bottom to drown out noise so if your neighbors are up early or are going in and out of their rooms for breakfast, you'll be woken up every time they come and go. Additionally, the housekeeping staff was extremely loud every time they were attending to nearby rooms or our floor. This wasn't in the afternoon but in the mornings, some days before 9am. We could hear the housekeeping team talking so loudly and clearly that it was like they were IN our room. At some points it sounded like they were yelling across the hallway to each other from different rooms they were cleaning. It was awful and put a huge damper on our trip because of the lack of sleep. My husband travels with a white noise machine specifically for this reason but it was no match for the noise inside this hotel. If you're a heavy sleeper than this is a good hotel for you, the roof access is lovely, room is sufficient, location is good, and price is reasonable. But if you're a light sleeper or looking for a restful vacation, I'd recommend another hotel.
The bed was very comfortable, the booking was a wonderful room, a big bed, and the front desk was kind enough to ask if you would have an extra bed. There is a supermarket next to it, you can buy something very late. I received 100 dollars of dollars and returned to it in three days.

Outstanding
It does not live up to the expectations. I do recognize some of the criticism while some of the pro’s too. Rooms are beautiful, very nice staff at reception and friendly helpful conciërge staff. Great location too. Got a great upgrade and pre check-in contact was wonderful (although NYE reservations went slightly wrong). On the downside it looks like the hotel is focussing on non-hotel guests for bar and restaurant, adjustments were almost impossible. We have never encountered these things in other high end hotels around the world. No place for a drink between 4 and 5 pm? Unacceptable. Need reservations as a hotel guest to have a drink in your hotel? Unacceptable. No vanilla ice cream, really? Even told us the bar was closed when we got there at 3.15 pm. Got in after intervention from one of the restaurant staff but had to go at 4 pm…and not even a thin pancake is possible at breakfast? Even while we were almost the only ones at breakfast. It all just not goes to an extend of great hospitality that we expected. Not as kid friendly as we expected and it is all a bit stiff without a lot of smiles and fun interaction which we did encounter in other restaurants and at lunch at the peninsula. Have fun and relax with guests to make it a living hotel. Dont get me wrong, a very nice place but certainly not on the highest hospitality and fun level like JK place in Rome, Mandarin or the Peninsula. And off course, why be so picky about such a beautiful place but at the rates you pay you have every right too. I must add that all depends on which member of staff you are dealing with, staff at the end of our stay was much more fun, friendlier etc. than the one(s) at the beginning. We ended on a hight and we do recommend the hotel, I guess we were a bit unlucky at the start with our encounters.
AAnfeiqiVery compact small hotel, the room is OK, relatively clean, the general Chinese travel more, the Empire State Building or Times Square in the surrounding area are relatively close, the location is good.
GGuest UserI stay at this hotel frequently since they opened approximately 2.5 years ago. Service continues to be flawless. The front of house staff and the doormen (Oswald and colleagues) really make the stay. Every time I return I feel like I am being greeted by long lost family. (My 12 year old daughter says the staff make her feel like royalty!) They recognize Ambassador status very nicely. Rooms are New York sized, but that’s to be expected in NY. The bathrooms are beautiful! Ask for one with a bathtub. Great way to relax after sightseeing. Housekeeping is always timely and efficient. Great location away from the craziness of Times Square but close to fabulous restaurants and shopping. This is my NY home away from home.
IIrinaWe stayed at the hotel right before Christmas. Location is super nice. The hotel itself is okay. The room is small but bathroom is big for some reason. It’s warm but the heater makes super load noise.
I think it’s good for a short trip. Anyways you come to see beautiful New York not spend time in the hotel.
WWilfriedExcellent location near Penn Station. I have never gotten from JFK to the hotel so quickly. It is a 5 minute walk to Penn Station. The hotel room was in a quiet location, even though it was 30m from Broadway. I will stay at this hotel again next time.
GGuest UserTwin room, okay. The rooms in New York are simple enough, with no computers or chairs. Sit on the floor. The cleaning staff are all Chinese, with good attitudes and serious work. The surrounding facilities are first-rate: banks, food, Mart, and mobile phone cards. Solved on foot. The surrounding area is full of various styles of food.
WWaynette TurnerThe facility was excellent. Clean and in a great area. The problem came with the service and amenities. The service was very slow and there were no amenities in the room. There was no iron, no refrigerator. Not even an ice machine in the building. I was very disappointed that these basic needs weren't met, especially given the large cost of the room.
Is it worth $142 (including taxes and fees) for a Double bed + 1 twin)? It’s the cheapest accommodation we could find in Manhatten on a holiday weekend / sat night. The room we booked was for 3 persons but we had only two occupants which is just right . Might be tight for 3 if you have plenty of luggages. There is a mini fridge and sink in each room which was convenient . A public area next to reception on 1st floor with free coffee and tea in morning. Also a microwave and water fountain. So if you’re staying long term, you can save your leftovers in your room’s mini fridge and warm them in the microwave. Pro: charming, unique, interesting murals and artistic, great location (lots of restaurants!), hot water in showers, heater kept room very toasty, clean sheets, clean thick newer towels, staff is super nice (Mr Patagonia) and gave a nice welcome. Room is relatively clean, doesn’t smell. Con: it’s a hostel at a hotel price. Some rooms are better condition than others and vice versa: ie some rooms are worse. Some of the bathrooms are also slightly better condition because they were upgraded. Bedroom got too hot we had to prop open the window to cool it down. No elevator. Suggestion: 1. arrive early you might get a choice of rooms 2. Bring Flipflop (and a plastic bag for your personal stuff) for the shared bathroom 3. Save a few dollars if you book direct. We paid more through Agoda because we didn’t know. 4. Tour the whole hotel walk around every floor! 5. Don’t loose your key - no staff after midnight so you will be locked out! We had a room with walls of painted dolls that look like voodoo dolls - especially when the lights go out, their white faces reflect the ambient light - pretty spooky. We didn’t hear any noise from next door. We parked on the street - free parking on sat night to Sunday. Other days you have to pay the meter. We could have driven to queens and had a nicer hotel for the same price but then we chose location over that. One night is ok. More only if you ok with the gringiness. It’s very old and could use updates but then, if updated, you probably won’t be paying this price like other places in Manhatten.
