Le Méridien New York, Fifth Avenue

The location is good

Second time booking the Le Meridien on 5th for my business trips mainly bc it’s the closest Marriott to my office and each time it’s been a major flop. Rooms are crap and for the price you pay, you’d expect more even if it’s NYC. Bathroom floors are also horrible due to water damage but they’re clearly too cheap to replace. Service is also disgusting. From the front desk to the bartender in the restaurant bar next to the lobby. Had late check out for 4pm yet my keys failed to work and locked me out when I got up to my room to retrieve my bags for check-out bc it was “too close to the 4pm check-out”. Yet my friend who was staying one floor below me got to her room at the same time and got in without a hitch. When I inquired at the front desk about why it locked me out (as I’ve NEVER had this issue with any other Marriott property) the front desk girl told me it was bc I was too close to the check-out time and was completely rude about it. Didn’t catch her name but she seemed to be of Indian descent. So if you’re staying here, maybe avoid her. I’ve been a titanium bonvoy member for a while now but am realizing it doesn’t mean sh*t with Marriott. They do not seem to care about their loyalty members and perks seem to be downgraded year after year. Thinking it might be time for me to give my business elsewhere. The only highlight of this stay was the doorman. He was always welcoming and kind and always had the brightest smile. Marriott should take note: it doesn’t take a lot to be kind to people and act like you give a sh*t. Do better, Marriott.

Do not stay here! The rooms are terribly small, the shower has no door on it (hence no privacy if you’re staying with family) and I left something valuable in the room by accident and it wasn’t found or returned — and the managers only responded after I called 5+ times. It was ridiculous that there wasn’t any accountability or better communication. Oh and the restaurant wasn’t good either. While the front desk staff and doormen were super nice and accommodating, it wasn’t enough and there are too many other places in the city to choose from for $500+/night that are way better than Le Meridian on 5th Ave. Choose wisely. I won’t be back.
