Harbor House Bed and Breakfast

Moe is a grat host. Rooms are nice. Breakfast simple, but you can always ask Moe for specials. Connetion to Manhattan is good, but you need 1h to the Downtown. Staten Island Ferry make the way much nicer, as you can assume. So I can recommend it.

I had a wonderful stay at HARBOR HOUSE. Our son goes to Wagner College, and Harbor House is an extremely convenient, quirky, clean, affordable, and comfortable place to stay. There are lots of stairs, some shared bathrooms, and it is an older house, so if that is your jam, you will love it here. It works out really well, because anyone who stays here is going to have to be relaxed enough to share, which makes for very pleasant and easygoing neighbors. It’s like a hip hostel for all ages that is a pleasure to come home to. The owner is very kind and accommodating. There’s a beautiful front porch to sit on, and my room (which had its own bathroom) had the most gorgeous view of the river, Manhattan, and the Verrazano Bridge. I loved hearing the waves lap up on the adjacent beach all night. Wonderful way to visit Staten Island.

Views of the bay are unbelievable and the most dirty place on earth. Everything has dist. They don’t help you with the luggage. There is no coffee or tea EARLY. The person that manages the place has not the slightest idea about what CUSTOMERS service means. Its a pitty because the property has a wonderful location. They don’t know what a broom is everything is filthy including your sheets. I don’t recommend it at all. Moe is always angry. DUST everywhere. The shower is not wide enough to take a shower place is not feasible for handicap. Its a pity because well managed this could be a gold mine. Poor quality food. I won’t come back.

This bed and breakfast was recommended to me by friends who live on Staten Island. As a senior world traveller, I know the many differences between a hotel and a bed and breakfast, the key to the B&B experience is understanding communication with the owner ( when are you arriving? when are you leaving? updating if there are delays), the hours of check in and check out and the more modest staffing and amenities, for example there is no elevator or restaurant, but there is a very inviting dining table. It is important to note that this lovely old building has a lot of stairs outside and inside. I use a cane and I take it slowly and I was fine. My room was perfectly clean, the towels were fluffy, soft and fragrant, the bedding was comfortable, and the furniture and décor were a homey eclectic mixture as to be expected in a B&B. I had my own perfectly adequate clean bathroom and shower. The wifi reception was excellent, I had a TV and a very cold quiet little fridge in my spacious room. I also had a hairdryer, an iron, an ironing board, a warm extra blanket and tons of hangers. The place was quiet. Breakfast was basic, varied and plentiful, just like home. The views were spectacular, the area quite safe. I was able to walk the one block up to the main street ( Bay) where the bus takes you straight to the ferry. The shopping and restaurants in the immediate vicinity of Bay and Hylan have everything you need, don't miss Bloom Café or Tony's Brick Oven. I was impressed with how much our host does by himself, taking care of people is hard work. Thank you Moe and see you again!

It was clean, comfortable room, good breakfast and the kindest host ( Moe). Thanks for everything!!! If you are in your car you can find street parking without problem. Also they have an amazing view!!! I highly recommended this house. (There is a shared bathroom, but it was always clean)

I absolutely loved my stay at Harbor House and 100% recommend. There’s no better way to start the day than with the delicious breakfast and coffee that was served, eaten outside on the balcony overlooking the water and the Manhattan skyline. Then, after a big day of adventuring, it’s a comfort to come back to the cozy room and comfortable bed. The shared bathroom was always clean. Moe was very kind and helpful. Looking forward to going back my next time in NYC!
