Leo House

Leo House is in a very convenient location in New York. But the amenities and facilities is really lacking.

Good value, great location, small room without a desk but with all other necessary amenities - one complaint: an inordinate amount of fine white dust on bed cover.

Leo House has a long history as a safe, inexpensive haven for single women to stay in NYC alone. The rooms are not fancy but functional. I chose to have a private bathroom but some have a shared bathroom in the hall. All this to say, if you want to raise your rates to competitive hotel prices, some upgrades need to happen. My room had no WiFi or TV service. I lodged a complaint but heard from no one regarding the issue and no resolution. The inconvenience of no WiFi cannot be overstated. Everyone uses a phone or device to make arrangements, appointments, reservations and inquiries. No one wants to have to leave their room early morning or late at night which requires proper dress. The TV was the size of a computer monitor. This is all fine if the rates are low but not when they are competing with regular hotels. It is an old building so some of the lack of upgrades is to be expected and even quaint but again, it was historically an inexpensive place to stay. On a good note, the breakfast was good, housekeeping was wonderful, front desk was fine unless you needed to lodge a complaint. The location can’t be beat.
