The room is considered big in downtown New York, but the room I was given faces the backstreet and the fire escape across the street, so there is no view at all. We had not been to New York before this trip but we chose wisely with the San Carlos. The location looked good on the map and that is how it turned out. It was close to the places that we wanted to visit, was handy for the subway, and had close proximity to the facilities that we wanted. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, and the room that we had was everything that had been outlined in the brochure. The hotel was very neat and impeccably clean. We did not eat at the hotel but the immediate hinterland was well provided with eating places. We would have no hesitation in recommending the San Carlos to anyone visiting New York.

Stayed six nights September 2024. Hotel is ideally located. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was large with two double beds. The beds were very comfortable. The decor was perhaps a little outdated but very clean with all the facilities you might need. We did not eat at the property. We had a most enjoyable stay and very good value considering the location.

Wonderful hotel. The receptionist are very kind and helpful. Rooms are quite big compared to other NYC resorts. Although stay fees are a bit high - comparable to Vegas 5 stars resorts.
