Hostal Marissal by Dorobe

Stayed with my daughter for 4 nights and absolutely loved our accommodations. Large room with a small balcony. . On a a side street of the bustling main plaza, year quiet inside. Air condition was necessary as it was hot out. Impeccably clean and comfortable. Out the door is the main plaza. Incredible location steps from a beautiful, if not crowded beach. 5 stars. How was this place $500 at the height of summer in a Costa del Sol beach town. Be sure to cross the plaza to Grab a bite a Kronox that had one of the most wonderful waiter who went above and beyond. Love it here and these accommodations are absolutely perfect for a visit to Nerja.

We knew the hotel would be basic from the photos but nothing could have prepared us for the room we were allocated. We arrived at 2.30 am in the morning. We went to the front of the hotel and there was no reception. I walked around the building rather panic stricken with a young child in tow and by chance, saw a note in the Ben and Jerrys ice cream shop window saying the hotel entrance was around the side. After walking round and seeing an entrance, there was another note with a phone number to check in, not ideal at two in the morning after travelling for six hours. The person on the end of the phone was actually really helpful, giving us a code for the entrance door and one for our room. When we got to our room we were a bit taken aback, it was nothing like the photos. We had twin beds, dressing table and two antique chairs and a tv. There was no kettle or tea and coffee making facilities, we had a half size balcony with a cage around it and a window with a shutter and what can only be described as a bed sheet used as a curtain. My son and I were both tired and got into bed. However, we were unable to sleep because of the constant noise from both inside and outside the hotel. The bins were collected at 4am, followed by comings and goings, noise of singing, chatting and suitcases being taken up and down the street. People were arriving or leaving and the hotel at all hours, meaning that it was impossible to sleep. The next morning, I messaged the number for check in, explaining the situation with the noise levels and asked if we could be moved to a different room. The message was read and ignored, despite everything we didn’t hear back from anyone and the noise continued throughout the week. I wouldn’t go back there. Nobody is on site to help, no check in instructions or guidance throughout our stay.

Rooms so outdated came to this place 20 years ago and still looks the same toilet flush broken shower head rusty no English tv channel dark a dingy rooms . staff were friendly but that’s about it only good thing is the location but you can find better accommodation in the same area for less money won’t be staying again
