Hotels in Xinjiekou Area/Presidential Palace, Nanjing

We chose to stay at Jinling Hotel before the Golden Week holidays to avoid the crowds. This established hotel, with its 37 floors, truly excels in the details of its service. From the Jinling Food Court in the basement to the first-floor buffet breakfast, the Michelin-starred Plum Garden on the second floor, and the executive lounge on the 57th floor overlooking the Asia-Pacific region, guests can savor all of Jinling's culinary delights without ever leaving the building. Our room was on a high floor of the Jinling Tower, which had cashmere carpets throughout. Initially, the scent was quite strong, but surprisingly, after my body adapted, I couldn't detect any particular smell anymore – quite a magical experience! The Trip.com package included a historical tour of the hotel and a Qipao photoshoot. After feeling tired from listening and posing, we could just head straight back up to our room to rest. This was much less strenuous than an outdoor shoot or a guided tour, allowing us to deeply experience the charm of Jinling. It's especially suitable for families with elderly parents or young children. Although we've dined at Plum Garden in previous years, this time, after it earned its Michelin star, they had a record of all the registered salted ducks, and each diner could even get the number of the duck they were eating. Last year, we specifically went to the Shangri-La for afternoon tea. This time, after coming down from Zijin Mountain, my mom was too tired to walk another step, so she went back to the room for a nap. We then headed straight to the 57th-floor executive lounge. Enjoying a pot of Yuhua tea, overlooking Jiming Temple, Xuanwu Lake, Nanjing University, and the Zifeng Tower, watching the sunset and chatting for an entire afternoon was incredibly pleasant. A single day felt as long as two, which is how travel should be – slow and unhurried. Because we were a bit rushed this time, I didn't get to try the planned 'Mingyue Stewed Shengqiao' – I'll save that for myself in November!

Summary Good location, but noise from the traffic and warm rooms gives it a 👎 Location Street food, bubble teas on the left, large shopping mall diagonally across the hotel with plenty of food options. Luckin coffee is right across the hotel (there is a cafe next to the reception - check out the price!) Room The room with queen sized bed is ideal for 1 person , but found it slightly small for 2 adults and 2 luggages Stayed for 2 nights but had issues with the air con. I can read Chinese , adjusted the thermostat to 17deg, cool , at both manual and automatic settings but they remained a constant 23-24deg which was quite warm for us. Noise The cars in Nanjing will honk the entire day (and I mean it) , it's very different from Shanghai. Front of the hotel is a 1 way street and cars are always honking from day to late night as there will always be someone who decides to stop their vehicle... , so if you have a room facing the road like we did (and we were on one if the highest level), that might be a deal breaker Gym Well equipped. Don't think it belongs to the hotel and it's unmanned at the reception. Anyone from the public can take a lift up and enter . I hope th e hotel considers installing a card scanner, only allowing guests to enter. Breakfast Large variety but serving local style breakfast. So if you are after bacon, scrambled eggs etc..this is not for you .

The hotel is conveniently located at the Xinjiekou district, within walking distance of Zhangfuyuan metro station. There are many good eateries around. The hotel itself is a great value. The room is spacious, clean and comfortable. All the necessary amenities are provided, with generous supply of water, coffee and tea, and even soft drink in the fridge. Service is excellent. Faye, especially, is super friendly and helpful. A little piece of advice though: the food in the breakfast buffet should be kept warm. Also, the lighting at the pantry in the room should have a separate switch, so that it can be switched off without having to use the main switch. (Customers would definitely like to have the flexibility of keeping certain lights on.) Overall very satisfactory.

Excellent localization near laodongmen , good breakfast included in our choice. Hotel is clean, traditional and with very nice decoration. Near by a selection of restaurants and shops. 25 minutes from Nanjing south railway station and 20 minutes from the museum memorial of Nanjing massacre. The reception was good at the hotel and they can keep your luggage if you arrive earlier than 2:00pm or leave later than 12:00.

Perfect location, taxi can be dropped off right in front of the hotel, and across the street from the hotel is the famous laomendong area, where you can find the amazing nanjing impression restaurant, this one is the more impressive looking space than other branches. Professional, well organised, rooms are cleaned and tidied, water, tea, and toiletries replenished every day. Plenty common areas to use, convenient, great value for money.

A day before our arrival, the customer service center called to meticulously confirm our reservation and provide all necessary information in advance. Arriving early at 9 AM on the day, the lobby manager and front desk staff greeted us warmly and assisted us with luggage storage, making for a very smooth start. When we returned in the evening to check in, we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to the 27th floor! The views were spectacular, and the room was spacious and bright – everything was perfectly comfortable. What’s more, there’s a dedicated transparent sightseeing elevator exclusively for high-floor guests, adding to a truly exclusive feel! Upon returning from the Qinhuai River in the evening, we found that housekeeping had tidied our room. We were delighted to discover they had even prepared a cutlery set for the complimentary fruit on the table – such a thoughtful and comforting touch! Overall, our entire stay felt like a high-level VIP experience. As a guest who had only booked a superior economy room, I was truly overwhelmed by such exceptional pampering. My sincere gratitude to Nanjing Tianfeng Hotel for their impeccable care and thoughtful attention to detail! We are truly thankful!

Excellent location! Take Metro Line 1 to Maofan Road Station, exit 2, and turn left immediately after the gate (no need to exit the station!). You'll find yourself in B1 of ”Huatong,” just follow it to Ascott B1 and enter the hotel. The welcoming staff and front desk are warm and professional. A special shout-out to Jason at the front desk, who was handsome, professional, efficient, and attentive – truly a 10/10 booking experience! The room is spacious, newly renovated, and has everything you could possibly need. It's quiet and comfortable. This is definitely my top choice when visiting Nanjing!

Our room on Xinanli Old Street boasts an old-world charm that's perfect for stunning photos. The hotel, a beautifully renovated building from the Republic of China era, is a popular spot for tourists to visit and photograph day and night. It operates with controlled access and robust security measures, ensuring guest safety.

They contacted me in advance, but as I was traveling solo, I didn't have any particular requests. On check-in day, the front desk attendant was very helpful, trying her best to allocate a suitable room. Follow-up communication was also prompt. The room was excellent, featuring a small balcony and a very convenient washer-dryer combo. The bedroom was also very comfortable. However, the duvet was a bit too thick, and the pillow's filling tended to shift, making it uncomfortable to sleep on. The restaurant staff also provided prompt service. The lounge was average; I wasn't full so I ordered more food, but ended up not being able to finish it. The Tiramisu was delicious, but the Napoleon wasn't to my taste. I ordered a variety of desserts to sample them. The red wine beef tagliatelle wasn't good (though I might have been full by then). The seafood fettuccine was better. I suggest the restaurant be more proactive in offering service when guests first arrive. Breakfast was decent, with a good selection of staple foods, but all the flavors were quite bland. As someone who enjoys savory or spicy food, I couldn't eat much.

Two of my colleagues recommended this place to me. I have to say, the service here is truly excellent. On the afternoon of the 6th, the front desk lady saw it was my birthday on my ID and very thoughtfully wished me a happy birthday, which was heartwarming. My child was bumped into by a cleaner moving things in the elevator, and the staff member even called to apologize, giving my child a small toy and two bottles of coke. With service like that, you can't even get mad. The room is also great; the cleaning staff do an exceptionally thorough job every day. The location is convenient for getting anywhere, and the price is quite reasonable. My child was especially happy, and we'll definitely stay here again next time we visit.
