Nachikatsuura Hotels with Bars

Loved this hotel so much! There are 5 different onsens (including two amazing cave onsens) and a garden and a deck at level 30+ and restaurants, souvenir shops and a Lawsons in the hotel itself. The downside is that it is only reachable by a short boat ride on a very adorable turtle boat from 7 to 7 at certain intervals so you’ll need to time your itineraries very precisely. However, I did enjoy coming back earlier from a long day of hiking at Kumano Kodo and relaxing in the different onsens, which were a big highlight of my trip. The sea view room we got was one of the biggest rooms we've stayed in. Felt like the space could easily sleep 10 people. The hotel is slightly older and the in-room shower area was very old. But their onsen was wonderful, especially the outdoor section.

Sunrise Katsuura is a vintage coastal hotel at Nachikatsuura. It was nice to have a clean tatami floor with comfy futon, and one of the best views of the Pacific Ocean from our room. They have yukata for you to wear and you can wear it within the hotel, as well as outside. There is an onsen with a small outdoor area which was a bonus. Location wise, it is a good base for any of the sites (Nachi Grand Shrine and Waterfall), restaurants, and grocery options. You can also walk along the coastline and there is a beach, though it looks like nobody uses it. Your room has a toilet, but no shower. You must shower at the onsen. Also, they do not provide you with bottled drinking water. Their onsen also does not provide drinking water, so prepare yourself for that. There are not a lot of sockets to plug into for your devices. If you want the breakfast and/or dinner, you must book it in advance with your reservation. You cannot pay to get breakfast or dinner afterwards.

Wanqinglou is the sister hotel of Urashima Hotel. It is also an old brand. You will never be disappointed if you choose to have dinner and breakfast when booking a room. The hotel and room facilities are a bit old, but overall they are clean and tidy. You can experience Japanese tatami, and the room is also equipped with kimonos to wear for hot spring bathing. In terms of location, he is on the side of the town, less than 10 minutes walk to the JR station/Kumano Kodo bus stop. Compared with Urashima and Nakanoshima Hotel, there is no need to wait for the boat to go back and forth, and travel is more free and convenient.
