Nothing very new to tell since all the previous reviews say it all. The price is too high for the service. The best aspect of this hotel is its closeness to the slopes. The rooms are so-so, the lack of hooks is astounding for ski-oriented accommodation, the beds aren't particularly comfy, the breakfast isn't super good nor well supplied, there's hardly any WiFi reception anywhere, the common spaces are chilly, and let's not talk about the onsen.
The staff do try hard to make a difference, but meaning well doesn't always cut it. I'm still a bit disappointed by being offered no meaningful commercial gesture after agreeing graciously to switch rooms at the manager's request; in retrospect, as I'm writing this review, a ¥700 bottle of wine I didn't ask for made me feel a bit cheap. I ended up offering it to the staff during check-out.
We decided to ignore all the previous comments because we organized our trip late and are usually easy to please. But quite frankly, I don't understand why some issues haven't been fixed yet, even simple ones such as adding WiFi repeaters and adding hooks in the rooms.

The hotel is very close to the ski resort, which is convenient for skiing. The room size is also good, but the small bed in the triple room is a bit too small, and there is only one set of radiators in the room, which is not warm overall. In addition, the elevator is out of service, and climbing to the third floor is a bit tiring

This property is a backpackers at best and run by backpackers. There is no customer service at all. I have stayed at this property twice, the first year was after their reopening so we were Ali it’ll more lenient in our expectations. We rebooked in 2025 to find the property was in worse condition. No lift in the property, with steep stairs, a ski shop placed in the lobby and restaurant. The wing on rooms that are not used, are a complete fire hazard with mattresses and linen piled up behind hoarding. The onsen with broken and chipped tiles everywhere, you were expected to use your room towel for the onsen. The property is dirty in the common areas, we were told our rooms would be serviced every second day which were not.The property is run by a person who lacks any hospitality experience and emotional intelligence. Do not stay here.

Staff was very nice, but that does not make up for the horrible cost-performance of the hotel. Parts of the building are shut down, the onsen is half disassembled (joint male-female onsen), sauna shut down, rooms very basic, breakfast with bare minimum buffet, yet is priced at double any nearby lodge and at 1.5x the much better Madarao Kogen Hotel.
Guess the investors have to get a high IRR on their investment to buy and minimally renovate the hotel.

The property is very dated with no lift only stairs. Basic 3 star and in need of a re fit. Staff were good

The best thing about this place is the friendly staff. Other than that, it was not a pleasant experience and definitely not worth the price we paid. The room we stayed in had no ventilation and it was extremely stuffy. The windows were not operational. The place felt like it was barely held together. Lots of air purifiers in the hallways and the room and hall had a dense mould smell. Breakfast was ok. There was a free laundry. I wouldn’t recommended this place for families.

Our group of 8 had booked Hakken by Active Life but were transferred to Xplore. We had heard and read some negative reviews, but we found the staff to be very friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean with comfortable beds and wonderful plush towels. The hotel was perfectly heated, and we never had a problem with hot water. Breakfast was simple but adequate. The location and views are fantastic and a short walk to the ski lifts. The negatives: Photos are misleading, not as new as depicted therefore a little pricey for what was advertised. Not all rooms have a functional wardrobe. Rooms need some hanging hooks and a PowerPoint in or at least just outside the bathroom. The t.v. and room safe didn't work. Hotel lift was not operational, but staff were great in helping with our luggage. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and were there for the snow activities. A few tweaks and additions and this hotel can go from being a good hotel to a great one.

Worst place I have ever stayed. Avoid this place at all costs. Nothing works and as far as I can tell they have just splashed paint on some walls. Lift does not work, safe in room does not work. Buffet breakfast was like a school camp, ski hire is not here but actually down the road, spa/onsen no go, internet is on and off. The pictures do not show what it actually is like. It has the feeling of being an abandoned hotel that is attempting to reopen, Reno’s happening throughout the hotel. There is clear ice all over their stairs between 4-6inc deep and no one maintaining access. Great way to hurt a guest when accessing the dry room. Faulty towers at its best. The only up side is the Thai receptionist who has done everything in Her power to help. As for the Australian staff zero help just like Australia, pay up and don’t complain!

+ Close to the lift, western bed, private bathroom, warm breakfast, clean sheets, fluffy pillows. Front desk staff and owner was very helpful for any troubles. Ski drying room conveniently located at the 2f with its own entrance/exit. - Some parts of the hotel was still in renovation. Some staff not super helpful. It would help to have some instructions / signs on what to do during breakfast, e.g. ask the staff for eggs and bacon. Wifi pretty spotty. Tatami smell lingered in the room. Pretty pricey for the state of the hotel.
