Excellent atmosphere, great service and a great menu. Everything was perfect nothing was too much trouble for Becci our host for the time we spent at the hotel. We will certainly be visiting again sooner rather than later. Thanks to all the staff for making it such a wonderful experience.

Excellent refurbishment. Really lovely decor. Friendly, professional staff. Really great tasty food. All meals were really enjoyed. The complimentary Prosecco birthday drink was a really nice touch. So glad to see this is now a lovely location, cosy ambiance and tasteful decor, subtle background music. We will definitely return.

We were looking forward to visiting the restaurant as its local, alot of money obviously spent on the refurbishment, for us , the piped music was a bit intense which affected the atmosphere, it would have been nice to be greeted by the door on the way in, instead of queuing at the bar, We were in the new conservatory, to us it felt like they tried to fit too many tables in ,so we were close to the surrounding tables, it also meant it was quite a noisy atmosphere. The other thing that could have been improved, our main beef meal came out with one half carrot and a couple of lettuce type leaves, we ordered a portion of veg, which is the smallest portion ive ever seen, containing a few peas, a piece of brocoli and a tiny piece of carrot in a shallow dish about 75mm dia. We appreciate the restaurant is newly opened and there's still work to do to get things right, hopefully the comments will be recieved as suggestions for improvement, we would like the sutherland to succeed, it's really needed in the local area.

Visited The Sutherland on Friday 14th February to take my wife out for Valentine’s Day, The whole new look of the place is stunning, we had a fab evening in there food was delicious and top quality, the atmosphere was relaxing and the staff couldn’t do enough for you especially our waitresses Courtney and Freya who were amazing throughout the evening and we will definitely be visiting here again.

Amazing as always, Alex and Chelsea first class service! The food and the atmosphere are lovely, the arancini and the seabass are must haves. Lottie makes an amazing old fashioned! So lucky to have The Sutherland on our doorstep. Can't wait to sit in the garden in summer!

This was our first visit since it was refurbished under its new ownership. The Sutherland had ample car parking spaces and was clean and well presented both inside and out. We were given a warm friendly greeting and shown to our table immediately. The decor is stylish and comfortable, and the staff very efficient and friendly. The menu was a decent selection of food to suit most tastes. We opted for a couple of starters and a “Butchers Block” sharing board for our main. The food was delicious and served promptly. The whole meal came to £105 which included a couple of drinks and two coffees . Would we visit again ? YES We have already booked a return visit…..

We came here for Valentines, it was our second time here and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We were served by Morgan and Alex who were just great and so accommodating - couldn’t have asked for more and the steak and wine was 10/10! Will definitely be back again soon.

Whilst the refurbishment has made it an attractive looking venue looking stylish and trendy, the food is just mediocre and service most odd. We found the quality of food fairly poor which had been cooked badly. Portion sizes are small and service quite unusual, some done at speed, multiple wait staff, most of whom didn’t appear very friendly. I’ve now spoken to several people who have had similar experiences, I think they need to iron out these issues if it’s to survive.

The refurbishment is beautiful but the meals that contain vegetables are disappointing. The brisket of beef comes with a smattering of mash and one carrot. Someone else had belly pork and noodles which she said was lovely but a very small portion. All our meals were pre ordered so they knew in advance. We also had problems paying as 15 people but only allowed three card payments otherwise people were told they would lose their £5 deposit. This spoilt the evening a little. It was an early evening meal early week day so not a busy time.
