Eix Lagotel Holiday Resort

The hotel was fine overall. Pools were really nice and accommodation was comfortable. The main things to bring the score down for us: the savage and silent mosquitos - take a lot of bug repellent! - and the fact we were in 2 rooms opposite the stage and effectively couldn’t sleep until after midnight when the revellers had dispersed. Some of the music had obscene lyrics and since you couldn’t shut out the ear-battering noise and I was with my 13 year old daughter in one room, it was not ideal. The food was ok. Not much variation and glad to be leaving after 9 nights really. Nice drinks and ice cream pots. They don’t have water fountains and got really off with us for asking for them to fill our water bottles at the bars. The only time you can get your own drink is at breakfast. They make you wait for table service for drinks at lunch and dinner. The ketchup and mayo often ran out over breakfast and dinner and they were slow to refill. I found the staff aloof and they would often walk in front of guests instead of ushering the guests through first. They were not happy with us asking for two drinks (there is a max 2 drink per person rule) as well as a water. They REALLY seemed to want people dehydrated! I had to ask the maid to give our towels back as she took them and didn’t replace them. We waited for new ones so we could shower before lunch and she didn’t return for 2 hours. I also had to take a soap and loo roll from the maids cart as she kept not replacing them. I feel this hotel is desperately trying to cut corners to save money. Evening entertainment was good in terms of singers they brought it and acrobats. (It was the stock music they played every night at the end which was an issue with the volume and swearing). You can buy a bracelet for one euro which serves as an alternative to the key card which is a nice idea. The air con was good. Pools were warm and clean. The beach was nice and a short coach ride from the hotel (complimentary). There is an over 18’s pool which is nice. Shame that once they realised we were all inclusive they stopped making us fresh cocktails with shaved ice! We got the sangria from the bottle after that with an ice cube if we were lucky! You can hire a beach towel for 10 Euros which you get back upon returning the towel. We did have a nice time overall but as you can see, a fair handful of niggles which they could easily iron out.

One of the main issues with this resort was the unbearable influx of mosquitoes which you will become a victim of. Ensure that you come prepared because they are seriously no joke. I understand that this is completely understand that this is out of the hotel’s control. But the lack of warning and communication before booking about it was poor. I raised this concern with the complaint manager and not only was he absurdly dismissive but he truly didn’t care. He made a conscious effort to do NOTHING. I really hope that the hotel speaks to him about how he actually speaks to guests. Other than this, the hotel was fine. The night entertainment was fantastic, one of the best aspects of the resort. Every night without fail, the entertainment was superb. The food was good but it lacked variety and felt repetitive. Would I recommend it? No. If you have the lowest of expectations and are looking for a chill holiday, this resort might be for you.

Just got back from a fab holiday here but am surprised the hotel has as many good reviews as it does. It’s in a brilliant location but I was definitely expecting more after lots of these positive reviews. The hotel is fine but definitely more of a 3 star. The staff aren’t particularly friendly and the reception staff are actually quite rude. The rooms are very basic, beds are small and uncomfortable and it’s foam mattresses. The maid service was the worst we’ve ever had and they forgot towels one day, forgot toilet roll the next and forgot to make the beds twice in the week we were there! When we called reception about it they were very dismissive and the last lady actually hung up on me! The food isn’t great - we only went bed and breakfast and I’m not fussy at all but even I struggled to find something to eat. The best fruit and pastries had all gone if you arrived towards the latter end of the service so you had to set your alarm and go early. They do omelettes most days and only pancakes once in the whole week. One day the egg man isn’t there - could someone else not cover him that day?! We did also get bitten loads by mosquitoes despite using candles and sprays. We’ve been to other hotels in the past that have sprayed nightly - could this be an option? Also I’ve never been to a hotel without porters to help with cases before and you were just given the key to a left luggage room at the end to let yourselves in and out - which again we’ve never had before! It just wasn’t a very luxurious or relaxing experience and you weren’t made to feel welcome particularly. The positives though are the lovely pools and beautiful outlook. Excellent location near a beautiful sandy beach with ample excellent restaurants to choose from - and there the staff were exceptionally friendly. The evening entertainment was very good. But quite a few extra charges eg bingo, trampolines, t-shirt painting and mini golf were all chargeable. Like I say we had a lovely holiday as we went out every night for dinner and stayed by the pools and beaches in the day. But I don’t think the hotel lived up to expectations at all and was disappointing so we would stay somewhere else next time.
