Moma1890 Boutique Hotel

Does not live up to reviewers' glowing promises. I was there the last week of July and it was cold and rainy; temperatures in the low 50s F at night. My room was not heated, I felt cold, and heat was not a possibility because "normally in July we do not provide heat." You're agreeing with me, not explaining your bad service. Free coffee and snacks mean nothing if the coffee machine is broken and the drinks are taken and never replenished. No in room refrigerator means if you bring back to the hotel a beverage or a dessert or anything from the local grocery store, you can't refrigerate it. There was no Wi-Fi Internet connection for two or three days (I don't mean slow, I mean it didn't work at all .) This was the worst hotel breakfast I've ever experienced in Germany: one kind of bread, two kinds of cheese, three kinds of juice, no salmon, no non-dairy milk, tiny skimpy choices of meat, etc; I didn't go hungry but this wasn't what I expected. The hotel did not offer the famous Munich breakfast weisswurst; restaurants don't sell it because it's only for breakfast. So when can I get it? Only hotel I've ever been to all over the world which asked as I left each morning, in a hurry to catch a train, did I want the room cleaned? You mean the room where I left the do not disturb sign and where I already talked to the cleaner? And by the way did I want to leave my key, so that when I return that night a desk clerk who had never seen me would refuse me entry because I don't have my key? Some of the staff were friendly and tried to be helpful. Yes, the hotel is extremely convenient to the Munich East train and transit station, and I took advantage of that, especially during the constant rain storms. My room was on the small side but clean and neat and well equipped. With the window closed, the room is quiet. Also I normally never remark on it, because European elevators are always smaller than American ones, but that is genuinely the smallest elevator I have ever seen: there was room for me and my suitcase if I exhaled, anyone else would have to wait.

I stayed in the centre of Munich for my previous trip. But that was business so cost not an issue. This time I was paying but wanted an equivalent standard for a much lower price point. Moma delivered that in spades and turns out that I much preferred the area. Super convenient as right by a station that brings you from airport and then gets you to wherever you want to go inside town or outside. Also quiet and felt safe with lots of restaurants. We had a junior suite which was nicely spacious and very comfortable for a stay of several days. Everything was spotless and worked. Friendly staff from housekeeping to breakfast to front desk. Good breakfasts and so nice to have the snack bar for a cup of tea and piece of chocolate when we got back after a busy day out.

Our experience was excellent! The room was large and comfortable. The staff was accommodating and pleasant. The hotel was convenient to all transportation, and with plenty of restaurants and beer gardens near by. Breakfast was a plus as were the free snacks and drinks.

The staff is amazing. The hotel is beautiful and clean. I defintely recommend the breakfast. The free snacks and water/juice was very much appreciated.

A gorgeous boutique hotel, in a quiet area but not too far from the centre of Munich. We loved the size of the hotel, everything felt so personal. We also loved the complementary soft drinks and snacks in the lounge area. Also thank you to the hotel for giving us an upgrade for my partner‘s birthday, this was such a lovely touch. I will be recommending this hotel to any friends or family visiting Munich. Rosie W.
