Rooms were terrible, the bar and staff were friendly, breakfast was very good but the rooms took me back to my prison days.

For a cheap and cheerful hotel it was brilliant rooms a bit jaded but spotless breakfast was delicious and the staff were fabulous nothing was too much trouble

The pub is lovely, the hotel rooms are woefully in need of some serious TLC. The wallpaper was hanging off in places the skylight frame was black with mould.

Pleasant stay, very friendly staff. Old fashioned coaching style inn with a bit of wear and tear. Much cleaner than other reviews have reported. I was in Room 2 overlooking the castle square. Breakfast included which was both continental and full English, drinks and fruit juice. This and the room was only £55 which I thought was fair value. Very central location to the park, castle and town centre. I would return.

The outside of the building looks good and the free parking is a bonus. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and the breakfast was lovely. Unfortunately that’s where the positives end. The corridors are needing an update, the bedroom we stayed in had peeling wallpaper and the bed was so uncomfortable. We didn’t have heating in the room and we were told it was on a timer but the heating never came on! Luckily we had a small electric heater in the room. It was ok for a one night stay but we would never stay here again.
