Royal Victoria College Residence

Super affordable (1/3 price of other hotels) dormitory with shared bathroom in a central location within 2 block of McGill Metro and bus. No AC but $2 fan rental was available although none were available on our first night and it was airless, hot and miserable in the room during a heatwave in July. Things improved substantially when we were able to rent 2 fans, 1 per person and pointed to our beds. Our large room contained 2 single beds, 2 desks, large walk-in closet & a small refrigerator. There was no screen on the window but luckily no mosquitoes on the 5th floor. The room was at the corner of Sherbrooke & faced Rue University and the noise was acceptable especially with the fan running. There was a shared bathroom with 2 showers, a toilet stall and 3 sinks with mirrors. There is also a separate bathroom with a tub (with signs of disuse), toilet and sink. Although we saw other guests on our section of about 5 rooms, we never needed to wait for showers later in the evening or early in the morning. Bath towel, hand towel, wash cloth & a bar of soap were provided but there was no daily service for new towels. It was a decent stay given the affordable price and excellent location. If I were to stay at Royal Victoria College again, I would definitely bring my own fans and be mentally prepared for no AC.
