The Grey Nuns Residence by Concordia University

It was a good experience there. The behaviours of the stuff were pretty good.

I’ve given hotels with more sparse amenities more stars than this before so it’s no knock on the budget aspect of this place. The one star is that this place doesn’t even try. My room was dirty—random hair strewn all over the place from the desk chair to the toilet, floor and shower. Random hairs of all types too! So like possibly students from class of 1999. It’s just nasty. Put a small amount of effort into the place and mop and clean it up! Hot water takes several minutes but it does eventually come out from the shower head. Noise from doors slamming etc are expected but I was there when the city was paving rue Guy and it occurred in the dead smack of the night, like 3AM. Because it’s summer and no A/C available in dorms, the open window let in a cacophony of sounds throughout the night. Lady who checked me in was unfriendly and lazy. She was out of my eyeshot so I thought her colleague was the only person checking people in. So I waited a few minutes for her colleague to finish chatting with her friend about non business issues. Then she stretched her head, finally within my view, and looked at me like I was strange for waiting there patiently waiting my turn. The interaction was robotic and impersonal. She may have Asperger’s or something within the spectrum so I’ll give that a pass. A shower mat may help as well because the floors are not mopped so after every shower, the floor was just a muddy mess. It’s location is convenient, two blocks from guy-Concordia, there’s are decent size frig and the place is monitored by a 24-hr guard are the redeeming qualities about this place. With minimal effort at cleaning, this place can easily be 3/5 instead of 1/5.

No hot water from shower. Bad points: No hot water from shower. Water linkage from the shower box. Just one towel. Just a soap, no shampoo. Good points: Nice location. Cheapest in the region. (But still very expensive)

Great location. Great location.

Never Again... The rooms have no central air, they are incredible hot and stuffy, the shared dorm toilets were all clogged and nearly overflowing and not tended to the entire weekend. The costs were jacked up for Osheaga weekend. And I dont feel like i got any value for my dollar. I will never stay there by choice again.

It's a nice location with lot of restaurants at a walkable distance
