Wunderschöne Lage mit Blick auf die Nebelwälder. Einige Restaurants in nächster Nähe. Die Villa Mathilda ist eine luxuriöse Unterkunft mit 2 Bädern und 2 Schlafzimmern, sowie einer schicken Küche. Die Auswahl beim Frühstück a la Carte könnte etwas größer sein, das Frühstück und der Kaffee sind aber sehr gut.

Die Unterkunft ist sehr zu empfehlen. Das Personal ist äußerst hilfsbereit und freundlich, und die Gärten der Lodge sind sehr gepflegt. Der Trail durch den nahe gelegenen Wald war sehr schön. Wir haben viele Vögel und andere Tiere gesehen. Unser Zimmer war sehr sauber und geräumig. Es gibt leider nur die Möglichkeit ein Frühstück im Hotel zu buchen. Mittag- und Abendessen sind nur in den nahegelegenen Restaurants möglich(etwa 3 Minuten zu Fuß) . Das Frühstück im Hotel war jedoch sehr gut, und die Auswahl ausreichend.

Don’t stay in the Villa!!! While it is a beautiful two bedroom house, it’s completely INFESTED with theee little shrimp bugs. We stayed two nights and woke up to hundreds in the common rooms each morning. The staff was apologetic and said it always happens during the rainy season and that the bugs come in under the front door. We covered the gap under the door with a towel but they appeared to be coming in through the sliding door in the main room too. Absolutely disgusting.

We where lucky to get an upgrade to the Mathilda Villa and it was superb. It is actually a small house with living room annex kitchen and two separate bedrooms with their own separate bathroom. It is modern looking, beautiful finish and some technical innovations. Although it is next to the office and the reception is nearby ( less then 5 minutes away) you feel like you are in a forest, even wild animals visit early in the morning. The staff is very friendly, understanding and is eager to help with reservations for transport, national parks and guides. Breakfast is made especially gor you, ala carte from the internet and in the afternoon a two hour coffee break is included on a treelevel terrace.

The comfortable rooms, great views, and on-property trail made for a wonderful stay at Cala Lodge. We stayed in one of the family suites and it was akin to having our own little apartment. The lodge was located in walking distance from great local restaurants and services, and just a quick drive to the many reserves in the Cloud Forest. Coffee time was a nice addition to the stay as the balcony provided a nice view into the forest surrounding the lodge and also made for great birding while enjoying local coffee. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the room had many needed amenities.

Peaceful quiet spot amazing for seeing wildlife right from the property. If you’re looking for a nature lodge to launch your experience in monteverde this is a great spot. We saw several birds, monkeys, agouti and coati right on the property.
