We stayed here as part of a tour package and were given the furthest room down the side of a mountain. Had to do a seriously steep hike up or down. The hotel room was extremely old fashioned and whilst spotlessly clean smelled overpoweringly of disinfectant The bed was very hard and the bedding very worn and elderly. The bathroom was vintage 1970s but lots of hot water. Poor wifi. No telephone or means of contacting reception in the event of an emergency so we felt a bit isolated. The staff were not very friendly and mostly ignored us. Breakfast was shockingly bad. My daughter missed out on the second because the first day was so bad. Only highlight was the homemade jam. Apart from all that it had good views and lovely gardens that are very well looked after. There were lizards in the rocks and several big spiders but the best of all was the coati that lived there. Don’t eat here but there are three decent restaurants a short walk away.

Tolles Hotel mit wunderschönem Ausblick. Unser Zimmer war extrem in die Jahre gekommen, daher können wir nicht mehr Sterne vergeben. Können uns aber vorstellen, dass andere Zimmer (die vielleicht renoviert sind) eine andere Erfahrung bieten. Die Anlage an sich ist sehr schön, das Restaurant ist gut und auch die Bar ist toll, um den Sonnenuntergang zu schauen!

Great location outside the town with fabulous views across to the Pacific Ocean. The sunsets were super from the outside rustic bar, small but in an ideal position. Our room was similarly rustic and comfortable taking advantage of the view. The evening meal was a la carte and very good but avoid the red wine. Breakfast was disappointing; limited selection of basically fruit and the ‘kept warm’ containers. No cereals, no yoghurt, no toaster, just very little choice. We did enjoy our stay here but it certainly provided the worst breakfast of all the hotels we had stayed at.

Stayed here 2 nights as part of tour. Very nice position providing amazing views. Very windy though! Rooms were large and clean. Only downside was the bathroom. Very dated and desperate for replacement! Shower Very slow just a trickle. All in very 70's dark green! Food buffet style breakfast which was fine. Cdnt comment on other times as ate elsewhere. Hotel is quite a walk from town but is OK if you're fit. Very steep hill back though so taxi be recommended. Was a lovely walk through hotel grounds which we enjoyed. Lots of little busy creatures to spot! Leaf cutter ants so interesting to watch!! All in all nice stay for 2 nights. Staff at reception Very friendly. Especially young lady..didn't get her name!!

Where do I start… very dated. Gaps in the doors and (very dirty) bathroom roof so was like being in a wind tunnel. No air con or heating. Breakfast served until 9. We arrived at 8.15 to a totally cleared dining room with a small plate of fruit and cold congealed offerings. Dining room staff totally disinterested, I appreciate this hotel is in a mountainous area but seriously the steep inclines and declines to and from the rooms require you to be either a mountain goat or an Olympic athlete (and we are fit). Walk into Santa Elena took us 20 minutes, mostly steep downhills. We taxied back as return walk was / There is a coffee machine in the room with 2 pods. Once you have used them you have to pay $3 for more. Reception staff were pleasant and that was the only good thing about this hotel.

Very tired accommodation with an amazing view down to the Pacific Coast. No heating,AC, Ceiling fan or safe. Great large balcony but doors didn’t lock with obvious signs of activity across the roof! No lift. Great fruit for breakfast but everything else was very poor.
