Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel

Recently, I stayed at this property for a conference. Immediately, when I walked into the building, I was greeted by front desk clerk Harrison! He was very polite and shared with me all the amenities that the property has to offer. He even asked if I was a Marriott Member and helped me to get my points. I was very pleased with Harrison, and he provided me with a great room and a relaxing view of the Gulf! Huge thank you to Mr. Harrison!

We stayed here a few weeks ago for a wedding and there were some nice things that we experienced, but the hotel overall was a letdown. First up, the good: the room was clean, our room had a nice view, and the location was great; it's within walking distance to lots of restaurants and bars and it's easy to get on and off the highway. The service at check in and check out was also very good. The so so: The beds were hard, but not altogether uncomfortable. The shower pressure was also just okay and it would have been a lot nicer if the pressure was better, but it's not a deal breaker for a trip. Now the bad: the service at breakfast and at the hotel bar was downright atrocious and remarkably slow for a fairly quiet weekend. It took us almost 30 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them at the bar and it took almost 45 minutes to get breakfast on a Sunday morning, which is unacceptable. The service at the wedding reception was also very poor and disorganized as if the staff weren't used to serving people in large groups. The food at the wedding reception was very hit or miss as some people really enjoyed their food while others (including myself) had dry and hard salmon, which was unpalatable. This is unfortunately not a place that we'd frequent again and we'd look elsewhere if staying in downtown Mobile again.

We had another lovely stay at the Mobile Renaissance. Front desk and serving staff are very kind with few exceptions. Still wished they offered at least two bottles of water to Bonvoy members. I understand they will bring a microwave to your room but we never did that. I love the view of the bay. Seeing the boats and trains is always a treat. Shout out to Tamika (sp?) and Jada for exceptional service. The housekeepers on the 9th floor last weekend we also very nice. PS I loooove the lobby art and art in the area where vendors for the conference we attended were located.

I am currently staying here for business and having the worst experience. Even though the company I work for are covering the cost of the entire stay, including breakfast and parking, the hotel has put reserves equalling almost $2000 dollars on my company card that I use for incidentals, which they are refusing to lift (they say they are trying but my bank says it's totally in their power). I speak to them every day and it's clear they don't really care, as they just look at me and apologise but never take any solid actions to resolve. I am even now considering calling the travel agent and seeing if it's possible to move me to somewhere else, since it's beginning to impact what's available to spend here on my company card.

Nice, clean and the staff was courteous and responsive. Great stay!
