Maistra Select Astarea Hotel

Lovely hotel in a great setting, staff work really hard keeping the place clean  My only complaint would be around charging hotel guests for Sun lounges on the beach that were managed by the hotel, meaning that most days none were available around the pool. Guest would reserve beds from 8am to secure a spot around the pool,  Food was good at the hotel with a range of options

Main hotel was clean and modern, unfortunately we stayed in the annex which has not been renovated. It is quite a walk to the main building which as the weather wasn't great was not ideal. Coats and brollies for breakfast and dinner! We did feel like second-class citizens in the annex. Rooms are tiny, bathroom is extremely small, not particularly clean. Towels are very poor quality, surprisingly the beds were comfy! We paid for a partial sea view. Partial as the rooms are on an angle - although it is lovely to be surrounded by trees - one smack in front of the the balcony blocking the view wasn't great - and this caused lots of ants on the tiny tiny balcony so we kept away. If you stay here avoid the annex!! There are not enough seating areas in the hotel - found we had to venture out quite a lot - which when the weather is poor is not great. Fortunately the hotel is in a good location for local bars and restaurants. We stayed in May and the location is very quiet which we loved. Very small pool area but the beach is a stones-throw away - was lovely and quiet during our stay but imagine will be busier in the summer. Sea was amazing but take your beach shoes - it is very stoney. Pool towels are provided (deposit paid) Restaurant was buffet style and was very much of an all inclusive feel (we were halfboard) - there was not a great deal of choice - meat and veg in the evenings, mixture of some continental and cooked breakfast in a morning - again not a lot of choice. I think families with children would find it difficult to suit everyone. There were not many children during our stay. Drinks were the issue - we only had drinks 2 during our stay in the restaurant - there seemed to be enough staff but didn't seem to be getting the drinks out quick enough. Drinks arrived first night as we finished our meal! No sign of waiter next 2 nights, had couple of nights elsewhere and didn't bother ordering drinks on the last night - seemed very busy so knew we had no chance of the drinks arriving! The lack of drinks did seem to be causing a few issues with guests. You can walk to Srebreno, and walk to Kupari (eerie) and the local water taxis are just minutes away for Cavtat and Dubronik (or grab a taxi or bus) - so location wise it is perfect - away from the hustle and bustle but within easy reach. Not much in the way of shops, there apparently is a supermarket in Srebreno but we never found it. Could be tricky if you were self catering in the area. There are some amazing restaurants by the sea though! Love the area, simply stunning, breathtaking coastline and the people are amazing so welcoming and friendly - will definitely return to Dubrovnik.

Really enjoyed our stay in Mlini, and found this hotel to be in a good location offering a pleasant room with comfortable beds and a decent shower. The hotel appears to of been recently refurbished to a good standard and is kept extremely clean and tidy. The pool area is very nice, although finding an unoccupied sunbed was pot luck. This location is an easy drive or taxi boat ride to Dubrovnik. The reason for not giving this hotel a higher rating was due to the food - we were really disappointed. All hot food items on the buffet were consistently cold and the range on offer was not the best quality. If this could be resolved I would recommend everyone to come and stay here because we had no other issues. Furthermore the car parking is a great bonus.

We stayed 10 days at hotel astarea. It is a beautiful and super busy hotel. Nice pebble beach beside the hotel also. Staff are friendly and facilties are kept clean and well maintained. Breakfast was ok, im quite fussy but enjoyed a few options like the porridge , pancakes and pastries. The pool sunbed issue that others mentioned seemed to be resolved while we were there , towels removed from beds if left for more than 30 mins. This mostly stopped people from reserving beds and going off for hours. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at hotel astare. Mlini is gorgeous and easy access to dubrovnik and cavtat by boat or taxi! Plenty of restaurants everywhere u go!

Location: Beautiful Quiet Spot You can get a boat into Cavtat and Dubrovnik approx 30mins 15e return. Mlini is a quiet location with picturesque buildings situated on the sea front. A couple of restaurants and bars in the immediate area with more along the coastal path to Srebreno. Hotel Facilities: Indoor & Outdoor Pools, Spa, children's play area, teenagers games room, pool and table tennis. Hotel Bar and beach front restaurant with bar for lunch and dinner. Air Con throughout hotel and rooms. Rooms: Recently upgraded, compact and practical. Shower with shower gel and towels provided. Hairdryer, Robes and slippers for the spa. Kettle for tea and coffee. Balcony. Fridge, TV. Comfortable Beds. Air Con. Rooms serviced every day. Views of the sea from most rooms. Beds are very comfortable. Common Areas: Clean and Tidy. Breakfast: Busy most days. Prepare yourself for the usual hustle and bustle. Eggs, rashers, cold meats, bread, some fruit, juices and teas. Staff manage this busy environment quite well. Pool Area: Opens at 8am with some people queuing for Beds. Not enough beds to facilitate demand from the hotel, sister hotel and onsite apartments. Most beds gone by 9am. Pool towels provided at a deposit of 20 e per towel. Towels are collected each day by the pool and return led each day with a towel card. Beach: Lovely beach with calm clear water. Beds on the beach are 10e each and a parasols 8e. Best to buy a room up beach mat and forget about the pool area and hit the beach. The beach has lovely views and the water is nice for a swim. Food: Food is very good at the beach side bar and restaurant. Service is prompt prices are OK. Restaurants nearby: There are a couple nice restaurants near by some affiliated to the Hotel. Walk along the coastal path to find restaurants and more restaurants and bars in Srebreno. ATM: There is one located outside the hotel by the Beach Side Restaurant. And one further down by the harbour. Local Bars: 2 Local bars by the harbour nice to watch the evening boats and sun going down. Shop and supermarket: There is a small shop outside the hotel with basic items. If you need to do a bigger shop you got to walk into Srebreno to the large shopping Mall about 30mins walk. Tips: No need for a hoodie in the evenings as it is very warm. Take a day trip to Cavtat and Dubrovnik for the Tour of the Wall. A must do. Dont bother with the 8am rush for beds. Go to the beach before 12pm for a bed or ly on your towel. Recommendations: The hotel will need to address the pool area and their current policy. The pool area should be buzzer admittance by hotel card. At the minute any member of the public can stroll in and use the facilities via three entrances. The pool should be strictly residents only. Complimentary water should be provided in the fridge for new residents arriving to hotel or consider the installation of a vending machine with water and refreshments for residents arriving late in the night. The good stuff: friendly staff, clean rooms/bedding and towels, amazing views, good food, close to Dubrovnik and Cavtat so perfect for days out, restaurants nearby. Not so good: rooms are small but as long as you keep them tidy it’s manageable, you have to be up early to put your towels out if you want to lie by the pool. There’s not really enough sun beds for everyone and they are pretty crammed in. You have to pay if you want to go to the beach. It’s really busy at breakfast time if you go between 0800-0900hrs. Would not go back but only because we don’t like to go to the same place twice. Would definitely recommend, especially if you want a fly and drop holiday with a couple of day trips thrown in. Tips: we booked a trip to Montenegro via reception, well worth it and not overly expensive. Also, check the days when cruise ships aren’t in Dubrovnik as it is extremely busy.
