Den Grooten Wolsack Hotel

geboekt via social deal. receptiepersoneel niet echt vriendelijk en steeds met neus snuivend (ziek???) stinkende gangen in hotel. in kamer was de geur wel weg. superkleine kamer. deur van badkamer gaat niet volledig open doordat bed in de weg staat. tabletje boven wastafel = karton. Werkten niet : verluchting badkamer, ijskast, nachtlampje. sproeikop in douche heel vuil, rest van douche wel proper. bij inchecken hoorden we dat er een probleem was met de kaartjes om deur te openen. daardoor gewone sleutel meegekregen (kamer met een probleem verhuren?) ontbijt niet wauw maar oke. lift: heel vuil en lichtjes van verdiepingen branden niet!! is lift nog in orde?? perfecte ligging van hotel. enkel hotel ondermaats. we boeken eerste keer dikwijls met social deal en gaan als "gewone" klant terug als hotel oke is. hier nooit meer! verouderd hotel waar iets mooi van te maken is als met dit onderhoudt! (personeel bij ontbijt was wel supervriendelijk!)

Het hotel werd geboekt voor een overnachting omdat we in de buurt diner hadden. Bij aankomst bleek de kamer ijskoud (minder dan 16 graden). Gemeld aan receptie en men beloofde op te lossen. Bij terugkomst was de kamer nog steeds ijskoud. Helaas was er niemand meer aanwezig om dit te melden. ‘‘s ochtends was het amper 12 graden in de badkamer. Bij vertrek was de receptie nog gesloten. Het probleem werd achteraf gemeld per mail. Men doet echter de moeite niet om een antwoord te geven. Een echte afrader !

Nooit meer. Ik heb het hotel om 4 uur in de nacht verlaten. Na een korte nacht in het meest onhygiënische bed ooit geslapen te hebben. Totale afrader ongeveer alles in het hotel is volledig afgeleefd. Het gaf me sovjet rusthuis vibes, nochtans nooit zoiets bezocht 😳

De dame aan de receptie heeft ons vriendelijk ontvangen. We mochten de valiezen achterlaten tot we in de kamer konden. De kamer is net en groot genoeg. Ook een propere badkamer. Het ontbijt was niet zeer uitgebreid, maar er was zeker voor iedereen wat wils. De mevrouw die het ontbijt verzorgt doet het met veel plezier en een brede glimlach. Dit is niet het meest luxueuze hotel, maar dat hangt af wat je verwachtingen zijn.

The worst weekend ever. At check-in we were told that we were getting a free room upgrade. I really don't know what people mean by this. Hotel is outdated, worn out and in need of complete renovation. The evening of our arrival it was 11° outside, there was no heating on and when you get out of the shower it is not pleasant at all. It was very cold in the room/bathroom. The towels are as thin as paper. We had a 2 night stay, the 1st night there was some night noise from other guests coming into their rooms, but that often happens in a hotel, it was also short lived. The 2nd night, drunk men who had celebrated a bachelor's night came into their room in the room next to us, making noise at night (calling at each other, dropping things, showering for hours on end and then vomiting in the toilet from 2.15 am to 4.45 am). u. There was no one at the reception at night where we could report this, so you just go back to bed and wait until morning. When checking out we report the night noise, but the response was "I will tell the gentlemen "........, sorry but that is of no use to us. The only positive thing about our stay was breakfast on Saturday morning with the friendly lady who had prepared everything. We will never go here again.

This hotel is definitely NOT worth repeating. We were given room 33, but it had several defects: - Broken light in the bathroom (already reported on the first evening, there was nothing they could do about it, the previous guest had broken it) - Socket that does not work - Musty smell - Free water in the fridge is expired from April 2021!! - Roller blind in the bathroom is so dirty that we left it hanging - Pieces on the shower When checking out we reported all this to the reception, but she could not do anything about it, we just had to put it in an email. We did this immediately, but still no response after a week. Emailed again and all we get back is an apology, they know that 'fixer uppers' need to be done. If you know that, you shouldn't rent out those rooms. When we responded that an apology was not enough for us and that we expected financial compensation, we received the response that we were not being professional. I then picked up the phone. However, they were not open to feedback, it came down to the fact that what we said was not true, ... Then the lady hung up the phone. Very sad! In summary: for a trip to Mechelen it is best to book somewhere else.
