It looks like a private manor in the countryside, covering a large area. The rooms are in a row of independent houses next to the main building. The room facilities are old and there may be spiders. It is not a standard star hotel standard, but it has the characteristics of a country villa and is full of fresh travel experience. The service is very warm and professional; the breakfast is an authentic English breakfast with fresh ingredients.

Amazing service and food today for each course ordered. Thanks to Judith for an exceptional welcome and assistance. Beautiful meal in relaxed surroundings. A great experience for all present with plates cleaned. Just fantastic team each and everyone

It's been on my places to stay list, so as we were in the area I booked a meal to have a look-see. Based on the meal we won't be back. What a pity. It's a beautiful place. There's something wrong in a kitchen that can't produce a decent beef stew (tough meat) and a very simple Chicken Supreme.

The cauliflower Bhajis were very dry, and after ordering the special they came back to the table to inform me that it was finished even though it was only 7 pm. I ordered a lovely New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc which I really enjoyed and later during the meal I ordered a second glass but I was brought a different wine ( Chilean ) without being told. I mentioned it at reception when we were leaving and as we had already paid for our meal I was offered a glass of the New Zealand Wine which was brought to me in a takeaway cup? All in all I was very disappointed and would have expected more from a Restaurant of that calibre.

Beautiful place, building and surroundings. Room was tired - with spotty internet (at best) and very drab and mediocre furnishings. Bar service was remarkably slow, restaurant service was prompt and good quite good. Spa wasn’t great - satisfactory at best. I’d hope for improvement over time.

Just back from a night away with the husband, everything was just class. Food was the best we’ve had out in a long, long time. Our room was the nicest hotel room we may have ever stayed in - we’d a huge room with a huge bath, and it was really airy. All of the staff were absolutely lovely, but big shout out to Judith for being outstanding. It was so nice to have a night away in a place that wasn’t just a soulless chain hotel. It felt like everyone working there was very invested in making sure we’d the nicest time, in a very genuine feeling way. It’s very true, that it’s the people that make the place. We also went to the spa, had a lovely afternoon of relaxation and once again, brilliant staff. Honestly, can’t wait for our next excuse to go back!

I recently stayed at Bellinter House and, overall, had a fine experience. The hotel itself is well-maintained, and the front desk and hospitality staff were absolutely lovely — warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay. Particularly Tina and Daisy. However, I did have an upsetting experience during a treatment at the hotel’s spa, which I feel is important to share. I had booked a pregnancy treatment, during the session, the male therapist made unsolicited and negative comments about the stretch marks on my pregnant belly. This was not only inappropriate but also left me feeling self-conscious and uncomfortable during what should have been a relaxing and supportive experience. This was right at the start of our stay and put a damper on the whole trip. We addressed this within the review link we were sent after the treatment and were given an apology and a free gift of hand cream. While this was appreciated ultimately it is no reflection of a ruined experience. Thankfully once brought to the attention of the hotel duty manager the next day a refund for this treatment was given. Tina the duty manager handled this well and I can not fault her at all but ultimately this should not have needed to be addressed twice by us and should have been offered initially. I do hope the hotel addresses this with their spa team, as respectful and empathetic communication is crucial — especially in wellness services geared toward expectant mothers. I would recommend the hotel for its accommodations and hospitality, but would urge the spa management to take greater care in ensuring all guests feel safe, respected, and empowered during their treatments.

Such a pity that the visit was spoiled by lack of sleep. Food, grounds and staff lovely. If you like a sound nights sleep avoid booking the stables. Impossible to sleep as there is no sound insulation in rooms so it’s like having galloping horses overhead and it sounds like their en suite in your room. Met another guest who was in 501 - we were 507 and they had exactly the same experience. Responses from previous reviews I’ve read are that if you are back we will look after you. It’s hard to risk booking and wasting more money if you get home more tired than you went.
