The Oberoi Beach Resort, Mauritius

The Oberoi Mauritius has been by far the best hotel that we have stayed, this comment is made based on traveling across the world and not limited to travels in Mauritius. The staff paid careful attention to satisfying our every need and personal food requests that were happily accommodated by the hotel’s chef. Having fallen ill while traveling, the hotel doctor was readily available for a consult and prescribed medication within a timely manner. The visit to the spa was relaxing and all rooms were well-maintained. The therapist was able to provide treatments on our individual needs. The room was beautifully decorated with a private pool and garden, this meant that we were lucky enough to have our breakfast with a magnificent sea view🌊. Overall a true five star ⭐️ hotel that delivers an exceptional experience to its guests. Well done Oberoi Team⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Visited this most beautiful resort in July on our 20th anniversary and the welcome staff helmed by Natacha was lovely and inviting. We stayed at the luxury pavilion room and the room has the most inviting outdoor shower and sunken bath framed by a lovely patio garden. The furniture and fittings, decor and amenities in the room was all great although a larger screen TV would have been great. Now for the positives. There are 2 pools in the resort and the larger one is where the kiddies inhabit but the adults only infinity pool sports the most gorgeous views of the ocean and the mountain range beyond. Pool service is great and the pool boys spread the towels for you and bring water, insect repellent and a cool towel for you as a standard - not many other 5 star hotels I have stayed in do that (Belmond, Four seasons notably) . Was able to enjoy my daily read by the pool and lap swim whilst taking in the views of the bay and beyond. Housekeeping is a standout! Turndown service which is included usually in properties of this category was equally as good and very thoughtful. Just to quote a few anectodes. My laptop screen was open and a bit greasy and they left a screen cleaning kit for me, 4 bookmarks was put on top of my 4 magazines I brought for my reading, neatly folding up my yukata robe everyday and even meticulously arranging my charger and computer cables with neat velcros...the list goes on. Small details but it shows how much effort they put in which is very, very rare even in properties which cost 3x more. Always clean and a treat to get back to the room every day. The housekeeping team are always very friendly and so easy to deal with...Neetu who heads the team does such a superb job with her team...brilliant! The gym though small is well equipped and clean and has the latest equipment and with energy bars, cold towels and water complete with a very friendly gym attendant. We visited 2 other resorts which feature very highly in the tripadvisor ratings and they even charged for a can of energy drink or a bar so as you can already tell this property does exude the class you would expect. Mixed/negatives: We were in a bed and breakfast rate so could only mention about the breakfast we had at their main restaurant. A partial buffet was served and an extensive and very high end a la carte menu ranging from truffled eggs etc was for your picking. Food quality was very good but as they say about the hardware and software situation, the delivery was patchy. Staff can range from extremely friendly and efficient (usually the more experienced and older staff) to those that would literally ignore you when you are asking for things. We had 3 breakfasts in the hotel. The first day, we were welcomed by the assistant manager Natacha and the breakfast experience was a dream! Everything ran like clockwork and the service was impeccable and really impressive. The next 2 days things went downhill and resulted in us making a gentle complain at reception

What an amazing hotel, with probably the best staff, food and service we have experienced in many years of travelling. A wonderful experience in beautiful surroundings.

I stayed at The Oberoi, Mauritius recently, and while the housekeeping was excellent, several issues affected my overall experience. Before my arrival, I had clearly communicated my preferred title as “Ms” during pre-arrival correspondence. Despite this, I was addressed as “Mrs” upon check-in and in printed materials. More disappointing still, my name was also misspelled on the welcome letter. Shortly after arrival, I received a welcome email from the General Manager asking about my stay. I appreciated the gesture and responded the next day, politely raising these issues. Unfortunately, I never received a reply-neither during my stay nor in the weeks after I had checked out. While many staff members were warm and professional, there were moments of indifference. On several occasions, we said “thank you” and received no response, which was surprising and disappointing. Additionally, I found a hair in one of my dishes, which was both unpleasant and unacceptable at a hotel of this standard. I also noticed that several cotton bud packages in the bathroom contained brownish stains or residue on the buds. The resort is beautiful and has great potential, but the lack of follow-through, attention to detail, and basic courtesy left me underwhelmed by what should have been a seamless luxury experience.
