If it hadn't been for the location, for the strategic position characterized by a panoramic view (especially in the evening), for being a few steps from the main street of Sasso Caveoso, the starting point for the most characteristic part of Matera, for the typicality of the room (in our case the one called Talia), I would have given an even lower score because for the 260 euros a night the services left much to be desired. I can understand the enthusiasm of illustrating the characteristics of Matera to new arrivals: the monuments, the restaurants, the routes to take... but you can't keep waiting for 15 minutes someone who, after having traveled 600 kilometers, arrived around midday with 30 degrees outside and where the only thought is "... but is this room there? Is it ready or not?" In fact the room wasn't ready (it would have been enough to say so immediately) ... at least before we were worried about immediately going to look for a place to have lunch! Afternoon room ready: everything as in the photos, but… usually on the table as a welcome you expect a bottle of water (corked) as is appropriate in these cases and not a carafe with an open neck where dust had settled on the surface of the water, perhaps from the tuff walls. On the table only a card with four lines in other languages: not a brochure, a sheet in Italian (and yet we are in Matera and I am not ashamed of not knowing other languages) to inform about where, how and various times for all the services. The next morning seeing a girl setting up an outside table we sat down waiting for information for breakfast. After ten minutes of waiting (there were only us) we decided to go into the reception and only there, peeking down the stairs, we noticed a counter with the breakfast dishes: if we had known beforehand ... A few more accessories in the room would have been useful (a coat rack, a bench for the suitcase, an extra socket for cell phones etc.) but given the typical nature of the situation we adapted ... but you can't put the face towels on a perch next to the bidet towels: damn, given the space there is in the bathroom, I would have preferred an extra perch there! Last but not least, the thing that made me smile was that attached to the fabric slippers provided in the room, there was a card that reported the warning that if these were to be missing after the departure of the occupants, these would be charged: but do they recycle them by any chance? To avoid the risk we didn't even use them ... you want them to be already used ...!
