Talalla Bay Beach House

30th December 2024: We had been staying at Talalla Bay Beach House for 4 days, when a member of our party awoke to find open sewage leaked in her bathroom, we were horrified that when we reported this, we were told this was a recurring problem and even more so because this room is above the kitchen. Having reported this to the lady through whom we had made the booking, it was apparent there was nothing that could be done to resolve this – she was not even in the country, could not view the state the bathroom was in and the only suggestion was that two members of our party shared a room instead. We were not happy to continue our stay in these unacceptable conditions. Selling accommodation in this condition is wholly unacceptable and an absolute disgrace at the price we were paying due to peak season demand. We lost a day of our holiday and incurred considerable costs moving to alternative accommodation. Despite this, we merely asked for a refund for the four days we were no longer there, for which we had already paid – a sum of $2,000. It is shameful that the owner, an experienced and successful entrepreneur, dismissed our request, refuses any refund claiming poverty ‘we are already making a loss on this property’ – and then has the audacity to offer us discount of any further future bookings as recompense. These are not the type of people who should be benefitting from tourism in Sri Lanka. They should be ashamed of themselves. BOOK THIS PLACE AT YOUR PERIL.

Nice small house Nice, small house with a fewnice but small rooms. Good food, nice people, nice beach, but overall the house and rooms need some maintenance. Given this, we had a lovely stay

Nestled a few steps from the sand on the South end of this long, beautiful, very clean beach, the intimate Talalla Bay Beach House is in high demand. Let the chef Nilmini know in the morning what you’d like to eat later in the day, and she and her team will prepare unforgettable meals. We stayed for just over a week, and ate most of our meals there. Highly recommended.
