We stayed at Zee's for three nights amongst our travels through the cultural triangle. I see those days as the peak in my nearly month-long visit to Sri Lanka. Matale and Zee's Gardens, tucked away hillside, were a welcome reprise after some longer, busier hiking days and travels through more touristed areas. We occupied the double room upstairs with all the necessary amenities- strong wifi, hot water, strong AC and all else listed in the booking + a very sturdy screen door for when the AC wasn't necessary. It was such a gift to wake up to the sounds of countless birds in the morning with the sunrise, wander out onto the expansive upper floor deck to watch the garden and surrounding forests awaken against the backdrop of the Aluvihare mountains and then wander down to enjoy a wonderful breakfast prepared and set out by Pushpa and team. The food cooked on site, with the freshest ingredients, and the magic of Pushpa's experienced hands, was the best I've had during my travels through Sri Lanka, each component perfectly and thoughtfully balanced. I could have just stayed on the farm (and I did for one of the days) but Matale and lovely Kandy + Dambulla & Sigiriya are just a short drive away. I highly recommend Zee's Garden to anyone traveling through the area!

We stayed at Zee’s for two nights during our two week Sri Lanka trip. The farm was such a lovely change of pace - off the beaten path, quiet mornings with sounds of nature, spacious room, kind staff, tasty homemade breakfasts, and a gorgeous property to walk around and explore the Ayurvedic garden. Would highly recommend!

The culinary offerings at "Zee's Gardens" were a true highlight, with many of the ingredients sourced directly from the farm. The native meals served here were a delectable delight, and I wholeheartedly recommend trying them to savor the farm-to-table freshness and unique flavors. Exploring the surrounding area is a must-do, and venturing to the stunning Bambarakiri Ella Waterfall in the Ratota Matale district is an essential part of your journey. When you go, make sure to pack your swimwear so that you can relish a revitalizing dip in the cool, crystal-clear streams. In sum, "Zee's Gardens" comes highly recommended for a memorable getaway.

Stayed a night at this beautiful property as I was passing through Matale. The property is over a dozen acres of lush hill country farmland with a wide variety of trees, flowers and birds to make the perfect morning walk. The room I stayed in on the bottom floor of the farmhouse was spacious, very comfortable, and tastefully decorated. There was an attached pantry that would be very handy for longer stays. The view directly ahead of the Aluwihare mountains is magical and I was lucky enough to see the mountains peaking through the clouds at sunrise. The caretakers Palitha and Pushpa were very helpful and responsive during my short stay and Pushpa made me a simple yet delicious authentic Sri Lankan breakfast before I left. I hope I find myself at the property again.

Location is perfect - close to Matale town, but just far away enough to feel secluded. When you enter, it feels like you are stepping into an oasis. The first thing I noticed when I entered the property was the abundance of birds! The room itself is tastefully decorated and comfortable. The food is excellent. And the property itself is unique - a walk on the grounds shows you the breadth of Sri Lankan spices, fruits and vegetables.

Our journey began with a train ride from Colombo to Kandy. The scenery was amazing. The ride was 2 1/2 hours. From there we took an intercity a/c couch to Matale and a Tuk Tuk up to the farm. A piece of Heaven on earth. This place is surrounded by mountains and trees of different types. The farm has two bedrooms facing the mountain the rooms are large and comfortable. King size beds and all the amenities one needs. One wakes up in the morning to the sounds of the birds chirping. The sunrise is a sight yo see. Wake up early to experience this. The lush greenery and cool climate is a relaxing and nice getaway. The evenings bring in the hues of twilight and the sounds of the mountains brings one close to nature. And the only sounds you hear are frogs croaking and crickets creaking. One finds trees such as nutmeg, cinnamon, green peppercorns, coffee, cocoa, avocado, mango, papaya and more all within reach. Vanilla bean vines grow along the walkway. This is truly a paradise waiting for you to explore.
