We visited here in July for the Grand Prix so we just needed a base for 2 adults. This place had 24hr check in and was a 10min walk to the train station so it ticked those boxes! There is security on the door at night as the hotel is in a rough part of town but within a 5min walk, you are close to the Port which is gorgeous so it's a good location for exploring. The room was large and cool with a balcony, there was a definite smell from the drains so if you're sensitive to smells then it might not be the one for you but the kitchenette is large and well stocked with a Nespresso so that was nice. They provide a breakfast board for 9 euros which covered all the bases and the staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were comfy and you get a balcony (it overlooks some apartments but it's nice to have somewhere to hang wet towels etc). I'd recommend staying here if you're looking for a base to eat/sleep. It's not luxury but it had everything we needed for a short stay in 38c heat!

Excellent four star hotel with good amenities in the rooms - shampoo, conditioner, soap, shower gel, body lotion plus nail file, shower cap, cotton buds, cotton wool pads and water in the mini fridge, safe in the room. Dressing gown and slippers provided. I paid extra for a slightly larger room with a view of the Old Port and it was well worth it. The Port is noisy but the double glazing is very good. The A/C in the room was good. The room and bathroom were clean and serviced daily. I thought the shower could do with an upgrade - no hotels have a hand held shower these days but it was sufficient. Also the room carpet and the main stair carpet are tired and could do with replacing but they were clean and vacuumed. The reception staff were fantastic - friendly, helpful, always pleased to see me when I came back in and interested in knowing what I’d been up to. Milolo was especially good, getting my room ready a bit earlier when I arrived on an early flight, helping with information and printing out my boarding card when I left, but they were all lovely. As a single woman traveller I felt safe and comfortable/at home in the hotel and would highly recommend it. I would definitely go back.

My husband and I stayed for one night at this hotel. You can't check in until 3pm, no matter what - even if your flight arrives at 9am in the morning, so be aware that they will need to hold your bags if you wish to drop them off. Staff was very friendly, but right at 3pm, everyone arrives to check in and the wait can take a little time. Our room was pretty small, but had a little kitchen area and a decent sized bathroom. The bed was fairly comfortable and the view was basically of a run-down apartment building in the back of the property (depressing). We fortunately had a good nights rest with very little noise. There's a Nespresso machine in the room and you can buy pods at the front desk. The location is walkable to many tourist shops and restaurants right in Old Port. The room appeared to be clean, but a bit run down. I would suggest a one night's stay if needed, but to stay longer might cramp your style if you wish for something a bit more roomy and charming. Overall, good stay and a good place for walking around Old Port and surrounding neighborhoods.

I was rapt as soon as I walked into my first-floor ”deluxe room with sea view”. The decor was fab, the spaces were well-designed and practical, and the view was a delight. A nice touch was the sunhat on the bed! The location was ideal, right by the water and within walking distance of all the main sights as well as many shops and eateries. The bed was comfy, the wifi worked well and the desk space was good. The safe was a little small. I enjoyed room service breakfast and dinner, both were fresh and tasty. There were a couple of minor housekeeping issues (items not replaced) which were soon sorted by the main staff member on reception, who was also very helpful in regard to booking a taxi to the station at the end of my stay. Definitely recommended!

Location wise the hotel is just two or three minutes walk from the Colbert Metro Station or maybe 14 minutes walk from the main St Charles railway station. It is also only about five to seven minutes walk from the main tourist area down by the port. Obviously not the fault of the hotel but the street it is on it heavy with graffiti, there was smell of urine and hobos sleeping nearby. That might sound nasty, but it's just a fact. Check-in was simple and quick and the lobby is OK if you like looking at a piano covered in faux graffiti. All rather tacky and blingy looking. Bedroom was OK if you like decor in purple and vinyl light blue covered chairs in your room. No proper desk for computer use although you can use a small table and stool. Wifi connection was good. Air-conditioning worked. Bathroom acceptable although the 'open' toilet brush holder could surely be improved upon. Hairdryer provided but you can't use it in the bathroom as there is no plug point for a hair dryer. It can however be used in the hallway. Carpet was dirty. I thought at first it was maybe just our room but upon stepping out into the corridor there was dirt and dust everywhere, especially along the sides by the skirting boards. The cleaners main corridor door was often left open letting guests see inside the cleaners store room area. Breakfast was good. In fact, most of it was better than good. Comprehensive selection of breads and croissants/pastries, cheeses, hams, fruit, yoghurt, cereals, coffee machines and scrambled egg. The fallafel was also a great thing which I hadn't expected. Not so good were the burnt sausages and the very fatty/oily streaky bacon each morning. But overall, a good variety and enjoyable. Would we return? Probably not. The hotel really needs to do something to clean the carpets in the corridors properly and to get new toilet brush holders in the rooms. Very off-putting.

This is a really friendly hotel with great service and attitude. Cleanliness is spotless. Very well located close to the old port and plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. Comfortable rooms. My only point would be that they need more electrical sockets in the bedrooms nowadays but that is a minor omission.

This was a lovely hotel to stay at. I booked a room with a large terrace overlooking the port and the view was fantastic. I could have sat all day watching the boats coming in and out of the harbor. The room was spacious and well kept. The employees were very nice and helpful even as I practiced my French on them. The breakfast was quite special. It is served in a beautiful , light-filled room, again, with views of the port. You could sit inside or outside and the weather was beautiful while I was there in early June. The breakfast had many many choices, breads of all kinds, hot choices (such as bacon, eggs, sausages, petite potatoes, vegetables), cold cuts, many cheeses, several dessert options also. Really nice. I would highly recommend this hotel and wish I had stayed longer.

We had a lovely stay here. It’s in an ideal position being right next to the metro and port. We had breakfast with our stay and it was very good. The hotel is very quiet which we appreciated. All the staff we met were very helpful and pleasant. The young girl with long dark hair who served breakfast was lovely. We had an issue with the safe one evening in that it would not open and we had to wait till the next morning for it to be opened. The night porter did try for us 😊 I’m glad it wasn’t the night before we were leaving though as that would have been a big problem. The lady whose been there for 25 years opened it for us . Room 510

Ottima posizione, personale gentile e efficiente.
Piscina carina e comoda.

Rrdarcy1The hotel is a beautiful old building in a great location. The room was clean and well-insulated from any outside noise. Staff were attentive and accommodating. The spa was small but nice. Not sure I’d pay for a day pass but having it included was good. There were a couple of minor let-downs: the television didn’t work at all and the hotel wasn’t able to fix it during our stay, the extractor fan in the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned in a long time and was full of dirt, and the shower didn’t drain fast enough so we had to turn off the water every couple of minutes.

Ttw_alvaWe booked an apartment, located on the main shopping street of the Old Port, very convenient for shopping and restaurants. The apartment is decorated in the Southern French style that I like, with a small kitchen and tableware (the tableware is also in the Southern French style~I love it)
Suitable for those who want to slow down and experience the style of Marseille

It's about 40min by taxi from the airport for the fortune of 80 euros and still one need to roll suitcases for 2 extra minutes - either that, or the taxi driver didn't want to drop us in front of the hotel... Location is really prime, right at Canebière and with a tram stop just opposite, less than 5min to the old port and with a number of shops and restaurants at walking distance. Amazingly one can't hear a pin drop despite the whole mess outdoors! The area around the hotel is just busy and lively, I never felt any sort of risk any time, and some of the reputation unfortunately has to do with ethnical prejudice. Nevertheless and like everywhere in the world nowadays, watch your belongings and behaviour. The whole staff is most attentive and friendly, they really do their best to accommodate your needs and even acknowledge the problems the hotel does have. They are the only reason why I didn't give the hotel three points only! Strangely no identification or credit card confirmation was needed upon check-in; I may appear to be the most trustworthy person in the world but that's not the case for everyone, and not only for my own safety in the house: IDs of whoever is checking in must be checked, as simple as that. They have different kinds of suites and the corner ones are compact yet functional, with one sitting room adjacent to a bedroom and separated by running door. That's better and more honest than many hotels, which don't even have that and dare to call what they have as a suite! Free space is minimal but it's all manageable in the rooms; however, the bathroom counts as a major design mistake! Despite its instagramability, it deserves zero in practicality and even offers a high risk of injuries for not having a proper shower and forcing the bathing in a slippery narrow bathtub. There are no hangers for towels nor shelves for putting toiletteries or whatever else away. The designer who dared conceive this must have his diploma cancelled! Breakfast is served in the mezzanine and offers delicious breads and jams, local honeys, hot dishes, cheeses and juices. It's all the same every single day and the presentation is not appealing, like the mushrooms looking completely burned. French cuisine is known for its delicacies and it wouldn't cost them much to introduce guests with some of them, changing the menu on a fairly regular basis. Internet works fine and even reaches the corner of the street. And housekeepers should learn to leave the key in the socket: if placed there, there must be a reason! The hotel doesn't offer any parking and unwisely doesn't have partnership with the closest one (Charles de Gaule), to grant us a better deal. It's a five-minute suitcase-rolling down the street. All that said, the feeling is that it costs way more than it should, not being at all a bad choice for your first or revisited time in Marseille.

This - kind of - does what it says on the tin. A decent room in a great location with breakfast places if you turn both left and right (and a Lidl just up the hill). Also Le44 next door is a nice eatery. The bathroom is, in theory, well thought out, roomy with enough either side of the basin to put vanity bags. But, the shower heads (I presume) have been changed and don't fit into the holders so you have to be creative with how you have a shower. There is no plug in the sink. The beds (2 singles) have mattresses that are larger than the bedstead, so if you put too much weight on the edge of the mattress, you are liable to topple out of the bed. We had room 107 and in the corridor outside there was a leak from the ceiling for the duration of our 3 night stay, the water was captured in a bucket, which was regularly changed but we could monitor the increased frequency of the dripping. The stairs up to first floor smelled old, uncleaned and a couple of items of litter remained in situ for the duration of our stay. This hotel could be so much more and needs an overhaul.

FFulishizhaohedeThe location of the hotel is very good. Just next to the old port. Take a boat to Ile Ife, the dock at Calanque is right opposite. Also close to Galeries Lafayette and supermarket. Just outside the door is the subway station. It takes 2 subway stops to the train station and takes 15 minutes. But the carpets in the public areas of the hotel were extremely dirty. It seems that it has not been taken care of for a long time, and it has accumulated a thick layer of dust. Breakfast looked average. And the most annoying thing is that you can't check in early at all. I arrived around 12 o'clock, and my mother ☺️ waited stupidly in the hotel lobby until after 3 o'clock before I could check in. It is said that the owner is Jewish and only employs a small number of cleaning staff. 😤

This is a great hotel right on Vieux Port. As other people have highlighted, you go up a couple of flights of stairs to get to the reception which is staffed 24/7. A lift is available from reception to the upper 3 floors of the hotel. I didnt find the steps too bad. My room was facing the port and had great views out across the sea and Marseille. The room itself was spotlessly clean, spacious and had a modern and tranquil vibe. Despite it's location, it was quiet and zoned out the noise from the street. Staff are very helpful and friendly and you can leave your luggage no problem if you want to explore on the day you check out. A big shout out to Yvette for helping me with directions, transport information and luggage storage. I never ate breakfast but they provided free homemade fresh lemon tea which was really refreshing in the heat alongside other drinks. There is space around the reception area to sit and relax. If you want to go over to Chateux d'lf the ticket office and boat departs right opposite. Get up early and make sure you get a ticket first thing so you can board the 9.50am boat. As the day bulds up the ques build and its too hot to stand in a que... There is also a bus and metro stop opposite the hotel to get about. A ticket machine is on the street for tickets to both. Its around 3.80 for a return trip. The number 83 bus comes every 5 minutes and goes up the coast to the Corniche where all the beaches are. It's really easy to get and buses returning also come every 5 minutes. It's a beautiful journey and you'll get to see the lovely coast and the little places/villages enroute. You also get great coastal views and can see the Chateux d'lf quite well. Many beaches to choose from and Prophet beach was nice. The bus route and stops are highlighted inside on a screen by lights so you always know what the upcoming stop is. Also to the right of the hotel is where you head to explore the Panier area which is a maze of winding streets with a great atmosphere that leads down to the sea front, church and the Museum. A great hotel alround and would stay again.

At 2 o'clock we were to early to check in, so we left our luggage behind to visit the city. When we came back around 6 o'clock there was no body at the reception, but there was a sign that we had to wait 5 minutes. After 20 minutes of waiting we asked the person behind the bar to call somebody, because we wanted to go to our room. After another 15 minutes somebody finally showed up, when we pointed out we were waiting for more then 30 minutes he started yelling at us ( a simple sorry would have been enough for us). My partner (who was in pain due to health reasons) didn't let this go and called the guy behind the reception out for his behaviour. At that point the guy wanted to fight us and called my partner names. The guy behind the bar came down to cool him down. After a while we got to our room. There we were processing everything that went down, we saw the room (which wasn't great either) and in combination to what went down we decided to leave and search another hotel (Grand hotel Beauvau) which was amazing!!! To be honest, the next day our money was on our account (on a sunday!).

GGuest UserRecently stayed here at 50Euro per night, The hotel is located a stone's throw away from Vieux-Port in a side street, hence giving you access to town centre, the metro. With a tiny and almost hidden entrance the hotel, its easy to miss. From the rooms you can hear the hustle and bustle even at night however I like this kind of sound and slept with the windows open. The staff were absolutely fantastic (thanks to the 2 gentlemen and 1 lady) and was manned 24 hours per day. The rooms itself are small and quite basic, and not suited to families, but for single or couples looking for a place to stay. You would consider this a budget hotel without any luxuries at 50 Euro at night, id say its fair value. Thanks for the great stay, staff and location made it great
