The location is great, the rooms are a bit old-fashioned, but I like it. There was dusty in the room and the fan isn’t very useful

Excellent location with lake view and the staff is good. If they can provide free bottles of water, that's perfect.

I want to give 2 stars, but still giving 4 stars. That is why: The hotel is smack in town, pedestrian zone. We had a balcony overlooking the beautiful lake, watching ships coming to the dock. Lounge chairs for relaxing, access (a few steps) to go swimming. Personnel friendly, rooms ok, clean. It's simply, but that's all that's needed. The downers are the parking. Supposed to be private parking available, we looked for 40 minutes but couldn't find it, then we found it that we needed to pick up a key first. We resorted to street parking (with paying for it), because we wanted to use the car for other trips anyway. Good thing, the metered parking can be prepaid into next day, so no need to jump up during breakfast to make sure you are up to date with the paid parking. Breakfast just ok, a bit bland. We booked half-pension (dinner included) and that dinner was not good at all. The cooks got to be ashamed of themselves, unless they don't get the allowance they are asking for to cook real fresh food. Don't book the prepaid dinner! Worst of all, while many restaurant offer outdoor seating, the hotel restaurant has you stuffed inside seating only. No! I am on vacation, I want to enjoy the town, and the air and have a dinner under the stars. There are many restaurant options in town, every one of them better. So, knowing that parking can be a bit of hassle, and dinner is an absolute no-no, (breakfast barely), but considering the location, the view and nice personal, at this point in time, i would still book again.

Great location. A sun terrace that allows you to dive straight into Lage Garda - amazing! Personnel is not American-level friendly but friendly by Italian standards. Tiny rooms, but they can be described as charming in an old-fashioned way. (Except for the fake leather, bright blue bed board - who on earth thought this would match the decor?!?) Terrible breakfast. Fake orange juice, some breads were from yesterday. Croissants haven’t even seen the real thing. Scrambled eggs as they sometimes are in hotels - not good. Bacon wqs ok! Watermelon was lovely (the only lovely part of the breakfast.) The lowest point of our stay was the breakfast coffee. It came from a machine, and it uses some kind of milk powder that made everything taste really bad. Espresso was ok, so I took espresso and added cold milk. I rather drink my coffee half cold than taste the milk powder. If anyone at the hotel ever reads this, please taste for yourself. You’re Italian, you should know good coffee!

We stayed half board and booked through Inghams. Bedroom a bit basic but it was very hot and the air con worked amazingly well, the shower was hot and efficient and the room was cleaned, mopped and towels and bedding replaced every day while we were having breakfast! Breakfasts were plentiful, dinners on half board were good , plentiful and choice every evening. The fish was particularly good. The biggest assets of the hotel were 1. the location, amazing right on the edge of the lake and next to the harbour and right in the beautiful old town and 2. The staff. The couple who serve and maintain the restaurant, a gentleman and lady, are fabulous. So friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. They are extremely efficient clearing tables and serving even though there are only the two of them. The guys serving behind the hotel bar also very friendly. The receptionists are lovely. In particular one lady called Cristina. I left my walking pole on a ferry back from Riva. She phoned the ferry company for me. They called back to say they had it and would send it over on an evening ferry. We did not know they were going to do that as we were out having a drink. However, we came back five minutes before the ferry was due to arrive and she called us over and we ran round in time to get the pole. However, had we not come back she was going to leave the reception and run round and pick it up herself. If that’s not good service I don’t know what is! I would not have got my pole back if was not for Christina.

We recently stayed at Hotel Malcesine and were very pleased! The hotel is located right on the lake, next to the ferry terminal and the historic center of the city, making it an ideal starting point for walks and excursions. The room was clean and cozy, with a stunning view of the lake. Breakfasts were repetitive, but this did not upset, especially liked the dinners with their variety. Separately, it is worth mentioning the entire staff - very helpful and friendly. Overall, Hotel Malcesine is a great place to stay on Lake Garda.
