We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Alpino. It was close to the lake. Close to the cable car and close to the ferry to take you to different part of Lake Garda. The staff are very helpful and friendly and make your stay very welcoming. Breakfasts were good, lots of choice. It was actually my birthday (80) and I received a most beautiful card and soaps. The family Scannone and staff were fabulous also Hotel Aplino restuarant is next door. The meals were very good and enjoyable xx

I have nothing bad to say about this hotel. We have stayed here twice and have booked to go back again next year. The rooms are clean, tidy, adequately decorated with mini fridges, kettle, hair dryers, air conditioning, comfortable beds, good showers. It is a 2 star and far exceeds other 3 or 4 stars we have stayed in. Breakfast is more than ample. I for one, as a cat lover, enjoy looking at the many cat related ornaments at reception and often visited the 2 cats who live at the hotel. Despite being in the centre of town it is quiet at night. The owners and staff are friendly and helpful. Also appreciate the Malcesine wall calendar gifted to us on our departure. This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in anywhere.

Old world Italian style family run hotel. Unfortunately, lacking in some quality. I suppose a full refurbishment would spoil some of its old world style so it's understandable, but a good de clutter would enhance the place, so many ornaments collecting dust. The rooms are very tired,a lick of paint would go a long way to revitalising the bland appearance, the furniture is 70s style with rather hard beds. Sheets and blankets could do with an upgrade. We found rusty staples in the top sheets left from the laundry. The staff did keep the room clean, unlike some areas. The breakfast was sad, but having not visited Italy before, I don't know if this is standard but overcooked everything on hot plates seemed to be the norm. Small dry bread and no real butter made breakfast disappointing. Staff in both the breakfast room and the main restaurant are very rude. Got told off for helping ourselves to cutlery when there was non on our table was down right insulting in front of other guests, said cutlery was removed from us and New cutlery slammed on the table during our breakfast. Also, I got shouted at when I left my coffee on the serving area while I collected my toast. Main restaurant could be used with a 10% discount and the food was nice, unfortunately on the first visit we asked for the bill, we had 40euro ready to pay a 36eure bill we handed the notes over and my wife went in her bag to top the tip up but before she could the waiter complained that the tip couldn't even buy him a drink. My wife then refused to give more, and we never ate there again. Cannot abide rude staff like that . Reception staff helpful but very blunt in manner having being asked to wait 15 min for our room to be ready on arrival we waited an hour then asked again only to be told, go sit back down until we call you as you were told before.after two hour we got out room and honestly I can't see what took 2 hours. This hotel is in a wonderful location so I would have liked it to be better and a possible hotel to return to but there is no way we will do that. As this area is popular with the Germans, I got the distinct impression that we were not overly welcome

Just back from a wonderful stay at the Hotel Alpino. When we arrived we had a really friendly greeting and were given all the information we needed including a ferry timetable and a discount card to use. What a lovely warm welcome. We stayed in room 212 which was a lovely big bright room at the side of the Hotel above a walkway. We chose not to have a room with a balcony and this suited us fine. There is air con, which we only used when we closed the windows to get off to sleep as there was slight noise from people using the walkway below. The double glazing was amazing and blotted out any sound. Woke up about midnight and turned it off and opened the window when everyone had gone home. There is a free safe, fridge and plenty drawers and hanging space. Bed was firm but comfy and great pillows and really crisp clean bedding. Kettle and two mugs. Bathroom was large with a shower and lovely large fluffy towels, shower gel. Breakfast was served from 7.30am and had a huge choice. Bread, croissants, pancakes, fruit salad, yoghurt, cake, ham, cheese, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon. Really great brekkie all looked after by Harry and lovely ladies. Location of hotel was fantastic. Right in the centre, two minutes from ferry, 3 minute up hill walk to bus station and close to all the restaurants. Honestly could not find any fault apart from the fact we had to come home. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Julie Turner

We have just returned from the Hotel Alpino, and it is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in.We picked this hotel because of its lovely reviews and we had a fabulous holiday. It is a family run hotel and all the staff are so lovely and welcoming, and they all work so hard, it is such a relaxing atmosphere and you immediately feel chilled out.We loved it and Malcesine itself is so vibrant, charming and pretty, there is plenty to see and do here from ferry crossings, trips and going on the local bus, we like to walk and there are plenty of walks all around the lake, The food at this hotel is exceptional, originally we were going to eat out at local places but we only did this once as we enjoyed the food at the hotel so much, all in all a fabulous holiday and we will be coming back next year, cannot wait, thank you Hotel Alpino, regards Steve and Alison

Simply wonderful this family run hotel in the heart of the very pretty town of Malcecine offers more than a lot of hotels do it’s simple no fuss very attentive friendly and excellent food and service the staff made us feel at home and part of The family the rooms are clean & spacious towels changed every day and room cleaned as well The reception was was very helpful and knowledgeable With local attractions etc The hotel itself is a few minutes walk from the pretty harbour ( small port ) With lots of restaurants take your pick! And boat trips to neighbouring resorts Limone being the closest. If you like upmarket Boutique hotels then this is not for you. But this offers more it’s simply a gem of a place I can’t praise it enough you won’t get a better place to stay,

Great hotel with excellent staff. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Best employee was Giovanni who made us feel welcome every day when he was at work. Although he was busy juggling different jobs, he never hesitated to chat to us. Cleaning staff made our room very comfortable and most efficient. Breakfast staff were very friendly too. All in all staff have been brilliant. Restaurant serves exceptionally reasonably priced dishes with no cover charge. Good location in the town centre.

I absolutely adore this place. Lovely family run hotel, with a great, always busy (wonderful food and service, lovely staff) restaurant attached, with a 10% discount for Hotel guests. I have stayed twice, since 2022, as a female solo traveller and have been made to feel so welcome and comfortable. I visited, for the 3rd time, this year, with my son and have already booked to return next June. The hotel is literally 2 minutes walk, from the small, but stunning central port and there are beautiful walks, in both directions, along the lakeside promenades, with little pebbly, peaceful coves, to sit on, while admiring the incredible mountainous scenery, around Malcesine. Also some lovely bars and restaurants dotted along them, to stop off at for a glass of wine, or limoncello and pass the time reading a good book, or just soaking in the scenery. Ferries to different towns, around the lake, are accessible, within a five minute walk from the Hotel and very simple to use. Limone is only a 20 minute boat ride and 6 euros return. Highly recommended, as it's another of the most Beautiful places, around the Lake. It gets quite busy, during the day, with tourists, but all polite and pleasant. Lots of families and lovely, quiet bars dotted around courtyards in the evening, a few minutes walk away. I honestly could not recommend The Alpino highly enough and it's also very affordable, for this area. Could not wish for a better location and I can only say that if you visit, you will not be disapointed. I leave a little bit of my heart there, each time I visit. Thanks so much to All that work so hard, to make this place so very special and I will be seeing you next year. Mille Gratzie.
