I have stayed in many hostels before but at TOC it was the first time I stayed in a shared room ( female only). I was a bit worried as I didn't know what to expect but it turned out great. The hostel is awesome, has friendly staff and is the most modern hostel I have ever stayed in. The rooms were quite nicely soundproofed as you couldn't hear much from the hallways as it is usual for other hostels. In my 6 bed female room, we had 2 toilets, 2 sinks, and 2 showers - it was enough. :) I will be coming back, definitely!

Contrary to some other people we found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The girl at the pool was always friendly to us - even when we turned up at the pool with towels from our room and explained this was not permitted. She went away and got the pool towels. It does help if you speak some Spanish and I am not a great linguist. What we did think was unusual of o hotel of this stature was the lack of Tea/Coffee making facilities in the room. Near reception on the ground floor there is a for providing these drinks. Breakfast is a Buffet affair with an eat as much as you like attitude. When I to Madrid again I shall certainly want to stay here.

We chose this hotel for it's central location and for what we thought was good value for money. We were not disappointed, in fact it exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we stepped into the lobby we were met by friendly yet not overbearing staff. Check in was efficient ant the special requests i had asked for were delivered without any problem and with discretion. The rooms were absolutely amazing, we had two superior rooms and i can honestly say they were the nicest rooms i have ever stayed in. Immaculately clean, well stocked and the comfiest bed ever. We ate in the cafeteria restaurant on the first night as we were tired from travelling, they do a 15 Euro menu which consists of three courses, bread and a drink (wine, beer or soft drink) which was of great quality and value for money, we enjoyed it so much we ate there the following two nights of our stay too. Break fast was of an equally high standard with a huge choice of both hot and cold offerings. The one thing that came across in this hotel was the staff, the were the most friendly and helpful i have cane across, nothing was too much trouble. I will only stay here when in Madrid in the future. Well done Liabeny.

When we entered the hotel in the early afternoon, it looked unpleasantly dark. It had an unpleasant smell; I think it was an old building smell, and It definitely did not have that cleanliness feel to it. We decided to give it a chance as we needed to find a place as soon as possible to use the remain of the day for sightseeing. And I am soooooooo glad we did ! Each floor is decorated individually, the smartest one to me was the 6th floor. Room and bathroom both are nicely done. Room looked like recently redecorated. I don’t think room decor clashes with anyone’s taste. I loved the Paris art work on the wall which embodied Holiday. Negatives of the room: Same old building feel and smell a little in the bathroom, no black out curtain for relaxing in day light, no mini fridge which is a must have in warm climate, and not even an electoral kettle ( luckily we had our own ) What made up for these negatives was the TERRACE, actually that was what mainly convinced us to stay. It had a beautiful view, thanks to the flat in the other side of the street with it’s beeeeeeeauuuuutiful 🌳🌹🌿🌸 🌱 🌺 🌿 🌷🍃 Flower Pots in front of the window! There was a sunbed on terrace to lie down and relax, and a set of chair and table to sit on, perfect for a little late night dining 🍕 or enjoying a cuppa 🍰 ☕️. We immensely enjoyed the lovely summer weather and beautiful streets lights view on both sides of the terrace at night, Gran Via was on the left side of the terrace, with crowd passing the street until late at night. Staff were all nice, polite and helpful, if I have to describe why in here, it would be a long, long long long review . iI you like to know more, read P.S. Text please I think Hotel is value for the money, considering the location, 4 min walk to elegant lively Gran Via street, just £360 for 3 nights; we have paid this amount for just one night in some hotels. I would pay this amount for 3 nights stay just in the Terrace . I should not tell you this cause I might make this room highly demanded and couldn’t get it ever again myself! This Room number is 64. Well, see all rooms with terrace but between 3 we saw, this was my fav 💗 : ) P.S. First reception we met at first when we entered the hotel was a young lovely nice guy, even though he looked extremely tired and had a few guests problems over the phone and in person to resolve, he offered us to view a few room in different floors. There was no bell boy so he had to hand us key for different rooms. And since we did not look that happy, he gave us the key to another room, saying you might like this one better. Housekeeper lady was a polite energetic and lively person, her energy and happiness was soooooo contagious. And night receptionist was a polite older guy who helped us to resolve a hotel issue so fast and efficiently . That’s why 1 Star is allocated to Staff.

Stayed one full week in Madrid and had an absolutely fantastic experience. The hotel was recently opened and had a special musical touch to it, located right in the center of Madrid by Plaza Mayor and Sol. Rooms are well appointed spacious, and quality amenities ,beautiful rooftop terrace and even though the hotel has a theatre/concert venue you will not hear much! Many artists usually perform at the famous theater venue in the lobby which adds a fun vibe to the experience . However I really need to highlight the staff especially Maria Garcia one of the managers a true professional and did all she can for me to enjoy this experience, always there to help and assist making sure my experience is top notch. Tania the guest experience manager was extraordinary, knew all the answers to my questions and recommend great restaurants, found the perfect transfers to take me to the football stadium, and more. She is a superstar Also wanted to mention Alvaro front office manager, always smiling and accommodating! Bravo!

We stayed at the Regente for a week. We had read mixed reviews but from the first minutes of our arrival at the hotel we knew it would be just fine. Reception staff were helpful throughout our stay and communication was no problem. Breakfast was very good with courteous staff - one has to keep in mind this is a three star hotel not the Marriot. The room was ok too if smallish - in fact the smallest on the 7th floor where we stayed. This floor has a split level in the corridors which was a pain but that could not be helped. Street noise was negligible considering the hotel's location on the busiest street in Madrid! Amenities were excellent throughout, and there is a cute cafe just off the reception area with lovely staff and ideal for a few minutes relaxation before going out or returning to your room. Our only gripe is the room furniture especially where it concerns storage of clothing which we found limited - but then, I am a design specialist bound to find fault with things like this. We hated that useless sculptural holder or whatever it is (which appears in the official photo) and would have preferred a small storage unit for personal effects. We also hated the towel rack inside the wet area of the shower - should be outside. But these are minor issues. Best of all however is the hotel location. It is bang in the middle of everything with metro stations all around, shopping centres just across the street, restaurants everywhere and places of interest all within walking distance! It was simply a fantastic experience. I would recommend this hotel any day to anyone and when we do Madrid again, this will be undoubtedly our first choice.

This was our first stay at the Principe Pio Hotel, we booked a room with a Palace view. On arrival we were upgraded to a top floor suite by very friendly staff on reception. The room was delightful and looked like it had recently been decorated. We had terrific views of the Palace. The room was kept in tip top shape on a daily basis and nothing too much trouble for the staff. One minor gripe was the mattress was a little firm for our tastes. Our first night was inadvertently spent with the windows ajar and it could be noisy as it’s on a main road combined with the peacocks calling from the palace garden. From then on with the windows closed it was absolutely fine, the aircon worked very well and was whisper quiet. Although this is classed as a 3* hotel we had a safe, fridge and tea making facilities to make our stay really comfortable. There is a roof terrace with plenty of seating to enjoy the sunshine too.

The hotel exceeded my expectations, it was clean and tidy, and was cleaned every day. The location is very good. Two subway stations are very close. It is a few minutes walk from Puerta del Sol San Miguel and other places. I saw police cars parked nearby several times and it felt safe. The wifi is also very good. The best thing is that there is a 24-hour Coffee Corner, which provides free coffee drinks and hot water, pastries, fruits, self-service, and a microwave oven. In the morning, the staff will also provide bread donuts and water at the door. It should be noted that their front desk is open until 11 o'clock in the evening. There is a self-service check-in machine after 11 o'clock, and the room can be entered with a password. Areas for improvement: Sound insulation is not good enough (bring earplugs if you have high sleep requirements), there is no elevator Flaws do not hide the advantages, five-star praise

the pros: The hostal's (not a hotel, not a hostel) online photos do not do it justice. It is even better looking in person and you really get good value for your money especially because of its PRIME location. The room I stayed in was the right size for a solo traveler. The bathroom is VERY small. It is hard to maneuver in there even to get in the shower. This is not a big deal but something I think travelers should know ahead of time. Again, the best thing about this place besides the price is the location. The Cons: The front desk staff are very short with you and have snippy attitudes. The hospitality industry is one where it is 100% guaranteed that you will encounter tourists from all walks of life, countries, and backgrounds. So if this is something that bothered them I do not understand why they chose this profession. They seem annoyed even if you say good morning or hello to them in Spanish. You can't seem to win with these folks and I'm not a sensitive person, coming from NYC, but it is universal in the hospitality world that it is bad business to treat your customers like you don't want them there. If this is a deal-breaker for you, then this might not be the right place to stay. But for the affordability of the room, I dealt with it. Secondly, not too long after my first day, a smell that resembled raw sewage seeped through the hallway and persisted throughout the entirety of my stay. It was only in the hallway and front desk area but not in my room thank goodness. Overall, I still liked my stay enough to not be turned off by the negative side and I think it would be much improved once you hire more personable staff.
