Property Description
This luxurious 5 star resort looks out towards calm cerulean waters. The island is long and thin - about 350 metres long - with sand snaking out into a perfect spit that disappears with the evening tide. The natural landscape has not been interfered with and the island features palms; wild sea grapes and hibiscus. The house reef which encircles Cocoa Island by COMO delineates a gin-clear lagoon that is rich with sealife; including ray and baby sharks. It is a sea without currents making Cocoa Island an ideal choice for families. The resort aesthetic is by Singaporean architect Cheong Yew Kuan. The style of Cocoa is deliberately restrained; a simple yet sophisticated mix of the contemporary and indigenous. Each of these 33 rooms - sit offshore on the southern side of Cocoa; overhanging the lagoon. They are reached by planked walkways. Structures combine New Zealand pine with Kajan thatched roofs. Natural materials are carried through to the interiors with high raftered ceilings and glossy teak flooring. The inside/outside space merges on the horizon-side with floor-to-ceiling glass windows opening up to a substantial deck for slipping in and out of the water. These same decks provide privacy for lounging in the sun or a place for quiet al fresco dining. The islands serenity is reflected in the clean-lined and airy interiors combining whites and blues - more Hamptons beach hut than the usual rough-rustic aesthetic favoured by other Maldivian hotels. The restaurant is called Ufaa meaning happy in Maldivian. The Cheong-designed foot-in-the-sand space - seating 60 both covered and uncovered - flanks the resorts infinity-edged pool in natural wood and Kajan thatch. Ufaa serves breakfast lunch and dinner. This peaceful location is also host to a COMO Shambhala Retreat designed for guests seeking greater health through Yoga and related treatments.

Very beautiful! This island is relatively small, with few people and quiet environment. The service staff are very nice, the food is also very exquisite, there are snacks and fruits in the room, and there is enough drinking water. You can go swimming and snorkeling directly in the sea from the terrace behind the room, or you can pay extra to take a yacht to go snorkeling, which is nice~

A very large menu, a large selection of dishes, good and healthy breakfasts, very pleasant service, everyone is always smiling, but in general: being in this hotel, you feel in complete privacy, I do not recommend it with children, the best place for a honeymoon, stunning underwater world at your feet. Excellent design of houses, everything is very thought out for guests!

Cocao Island is the best resort in the Maldives for relaxation and rejuvenating. Blue sky, crystal clear turquoise water, and white soft sand - Perfect! The tented dinner and villa setup to celebrate ny birthday is gorgeous. Thank you so much the amazing Cocoa Island team. We have had the relaxing rest throughout the stay - snorkeling on house reef is second to none greeted by turtle, black tip shark, colorful fish and various corals, scrumptios cuisine, and immaculate villas. Special thanks to Visam, Nazeel, Maria, April, Ravi, Mujey, and the exceptional Cocoa Island team for creating our memorable experiences beyond our wishes. You all are incredible! Highly recommend for everyone loving to explode the simple but luxurious life! We will be back again! 😊

Very unique, quiet, small place. The team makes the guests life close to perfect. There is a reason that most guests are repeat customers like we are: we met some who came back >20 or even 37 times!

When visiting Como Cocoa Island you enter a little wonderful world of its own. Everyone is superfriendly and being there feels like being part of a big family. The nature surrounding the resort is absolutely beautiful, with many great dive sites and reefs for snorkeling. I loved every second of my stay and look forward to coming back soon!

Fantastic stay! The hotel felt exclusive and quiet. The rooms were very spacious with comfortable bed and day bed. Fantastic balcony overlooking the sea with total privacy. Daily snacks and drinks provided. I stayed here years ago- there is definitely an improvement in the rooms and the hotel staff are fantastic. Hospitality top notch! Food- one of the best seafood risotto I’ve had. Good variety so that you don’t get too bored if you are staying there for a period. Did not get to try the massage but there’s a big hydrotherapy pool which helped to soothe our aching muscles. Nice beach and house reef all around. Miss the place already…

We had an unforgettable stay at Como Cocoa Island! From the moment we arrived, the service was nothing short of exceptional. Every member of the staff, such as Maria, Fanny, Sulthan, Binoy, Nattey and Nazeel, went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and taken care of — always warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. All the staff were so accommodating towards the kids on our trip, and never failed to play with them. Although there is only one restaurant, the food, as with the usual Como standard, was absolutely delicious at every meal, with a wide variety of options that catered to different tastes and which menu changed daily. The spa was great too. April and Tari were extremely friendly and Tari’s skills surpassed our expectations. The resort had stunning views, and we loved the sandbank so much. The house reef is terrific and we saw hawksbill turtles and nurse sharks while snorkelling. You can even spot eagle rays and sharks from the boardwalk. We thought 6 days was more than sufficient but it wasn’t enough and we hope to come back again very soon.

We stayed at Como Cocoa as part of a Music In Paradise event in June, and this resort really is paradise on earth. It is total laidback barefoot luxury. All the villas sit over a lovely blue lagoon, giving direct access to the most exceptional house reef. We saw an abundance of marine life right from the steps of our villa. Abdulla Wisam and the staff really make this place. We were met by name whenever we encountered them. They are so friendly and engaging and clearly enjoy working at the resort. The food was delicious and the chef is incredibly accommodating, such as allowing a lunch dish to be served for dinner if preferred. He even made up a special dinner for our group as a treat on the last night. The breakfast menu was outstanding. The Dosa and French toast were highlights and little things like ensuring the buffet food was kept covered to prevent flies, put a smile on my face every day. The gym has air con with plenty of equipment. The Hydro pool is a real treat and everyone we spoke to, including us, raved about the spa and massages. Also, the dive centre staff were very knowledgeable and clearly take the safety of guests seriously. Como Cocoa is a real gem and we can’t wait to return next year. I suspect Como Cocoa will be on our repeat list for years to come. Thanks Como Cocoa. See you next year!

This is a beautiful property located just a 30-minute speedboat ride from Malé airport. The property is beautiful… The room design was exceptional, I particularly loved the duplex layout. Having the bedroom upstairs with blackout curtains allowed my partner to sleep undisturbed, while I could use the downstairs lounge early in the morning without disruption. The staff here are genuinely warm and engaging. They go out of their way to connect with guests, and even join in for a friendly game of volleyball, adding a fun, lively touch for those who want to participate. As expected from a COMO property, the wellness offerings were top-tier. The hydrotherapy pool was a standout, I made it part of my daily routine and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Dining was also a highlight, perfectly aligned with COMO’s wellness philosophy. The seafood barbecue evening was especially memorable, with the chef preparing everything fresh to order, each bite bursting with flavour and quality. Marine life is abundant and ever-present. Whether snorkelling or simply walking between the villa and the restaurants, there was always something fascinating to spot, both by day and night.
