Cargo88 Hotel

Hotel has been constructed from 88 shipping containers and is fascinating. Unfortunately it was not busy during our visit and this resulted in sparse staffing and shortages at the complimentary breakfast.

The location is great. Right across from EastPark Mall. One is therefore not tied to the hotel but can get to a great mall in about 2 minutes. And many restaurants in walking distance. So, from a location perspective, it cannot be beat. However, as a hotel, it needs some improvement. For example, no toilet brushes in the toilets in the rooms. Nor any waste baskets anywhere in the actual hotel. This is basic housekeeping. The breakfast buffet is also very basic, but not replenished. So if an item is gone, it is gone. Why? Surely it is best practice to replace any items used up for those who do not arrive early to breakfast. And there is a "roof terrace" - but it is only open for some limited hours and needs to be booked. Why? The biggest complaint is the WIFI. It kept dropping and was very slow. Again, super fast and always on free WIFI is a "basic" in any hotel. Why not invest in proper WIFI? The hotel was not busy and bandwidth, when it was on, was slow. Who knows what would happen if the hotel ever got busy? Please, please sort out the WIFI. The staff were friendly but there appeared to be no "adults" in charge. Where is the experienced middle-aged hotel manager who has"been around the block" and knows the hotel business? None in evidence. Would I stay there again? Probably based on the location but ONLY if the WIFI is vastly improved.

Love this place. Wonderful night life. Shopping mall and restaurants across the street. Very friendly and capable staff. Nice rooms. Will always stay here in Lusaka.

This hotel concept was brilliant. I am definitely staying there again when I am next in Lusaka.
