Agree with the other review that there was no welcome bottle of Prosecco when we arrived. We stayed in the Tricky Woo Suite which they somehow deem to be "opulant". It isn't. It's tired and uncomfortable and the front room has an unpleasant odour. The soundproofing from the hall is non-existent and sounds like the people are in the room with you both the sitting room and the bedroom. The only wine glasses available were these horrible and unfit for purpose ones that would be better to serve trifle in. Maybe they could put some proper wine glasses in their empty display cabinets. The lighting in the sitting is also very poor and you need the overhead light on, which isn't great. The email they send you on the day of departure asking you to ***** the bed etc is a joke. They really need to rethink that. Askrigg was nice, but this place isn't what it thinks it is.

Our daughter had stayed in the Darrowby Suite earlier in the year so recommended it to us . The pictures were good , we noticed a bottle of Prosecco, our daughter confirmed they had one. The suite was very well decorated, the bed very comfortable. We didn’t find the Prosecco, so was disappointed. The next morning we used the shower and found the bathroom was flooded with shower water! We used the bath towels to mop up. We brought this to the notice of the cleaner who said ‘ yes the shower screen was not fitting properly and had reported it to the owners but they had not done anything. She offered us another towel which was just as well because I had used all of ours. The bath wasn’t level so did not fully drain. Apart from the bath problem we had a nice stay. The Kings Arms pub over the road served delicious food and a good selection of Ales.

We booked three suites for three nights. One of the suites had a pull out couch. We had planned for my 91 year old mom to use the couch but when we saw it we weren't sure she would be comfortable on it. There was another suite available for the second and third nights so we booked that. In the morning my mom said the bed was fine and she didn't need to move after all. I called immediately to cancel the extra room but was denied a refund. I understood the policy was that the room had to be cancelled 24 hrs in advance but I hadn't made the reservation 24 hrs before. If they had refunded my money, they wouldn't have lost anything because the room was empty for those days anyway. It was extremely disappointing that the management couldn't be the least bit flexible in this unusual situation. I would definitely not recommend Skeldale House for this reason.

We booked this accommodation online and felt that the price of approx £130 a night for the Darrowby suite was great value if it lived up to the hype! We were not at all disappointed. The room was luxuriously comfortable and spotlessly clean. The kitchen was well equipped with top quality crockery and equipment. There was even a lovely coffee machine to make your own espresso/cappuccino/late. The bathroom was beautiful and sumptuous. Only snags, mixer tap worked the wrong way round leading to a bit of confusion. When I called to report the resultant scalding water in the shower the woman who answered the phone was extremely disinterested and rude. I gave up trying to explain my issue to her when she said “yeh alright” with a tone that was straight out of the snarky teenager handbook. This was before 10am so I called back later hoping to get the day staff. The second person I spoke to (Haley I think) coukd not have been nicer, more professional or helpful. I haven’t let this hiccup affect my rating as all in all this is a delightful place to stay but I do think they should record calls for staff training purposes!

My sister was supposed to stay here for her wedding anniversary , it was meant to be a lovely time away traveling down from Scotland with this being the last 8 weeks of her pregnancy, unfortunately her husband has fallen ill. They asked to swap a date , and were told no and no refund available. Really disappointed and quite frankly sickening , to not swap for them . Won’t be making any bookings in the future. Terrible customer services , staff rude and unhelpful. Happy Christmas .

Absolutely beautiful and cosy stay! Came here for a one night stay as we have been exploring round the Dales. Had everything that we could have asked for, even Netflix on the huge TV! The suites are beautifully decorated and feel like a little piece of luxury hidden in the Dales. One of the comfiest beds we’ve slept on and the bath was lovely! Wish we had booked a couple more nights! Will definitely be back 😍

Faulty towers with moor holes would be an understatement. We were so excited to visit here it's such a beautiful location, but location location location is all it has going for it. Yes it could be amazing but there were holes in the wallpaper, a broken bed, dripping taps and just horrible upkeep. It's a shame as there's so many great reviews, maybe we stayed at a bad time but we paid and should have received the great service everyone else seems to have.

We were in one of the smaller studios, but there was reasonably good storage space and an exceptionally well equipped kitchenette. We were very comfortable. The property perfectly combined old-world nostalgia and modern convenience. We stayed for a week and found it to be a great base for exploring the Dales. The lack of onsite administration made it feel a little impersonal. The bottle of Prosecco was a nice touch. Our towels were not changed during our stay, and we had to buy toilet paper. Some information on local attractions and restaurants would have been helpful. Car parking might be an issue during peak holiday periods. The village was busy during our visit, but we were able to park in the little carpark at the top of the village, or find a spot on the street.

We stayed here for just one night on a last minute Easter plan. Very comfortable, with thoughtful design and styling apparent throughout. It’s situated in the quaint little village of Askrigg which houses 2 pubs and a bakery / cafe directly opposite the property . Fab service and correspondence before and after booking. There are some great walks around the area too. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here or at one of the other similar Maison Parfaite properties in the future.
