This is a terrific boutique hotel on Playa Bonita, Las Terrenas. It's right on the beach. The views and sunsets are amazing. As are the staff and the food! The water and beach at Playa Bonita are clean and safe. And the beach is one of the most laid-back places you'll find. The El Mosquito "hotelito" only has about 20 rooms and must have about the same number of employees. The staff is wonderful as is the restaurant. I worry when staying at a hotel that is a little off the beaten path or a bit out of town that the hotel restaurant might not be good - have no fears - the restaurant at El Mosquito is outstanding. The chef at El Mosquito is Peruvian. The dishes offered are a great mix of traditional Dominican dishes, plus Peruvian ones like cerviche, cousa, and ahi gallina. Wow. I was impressed. Plus the restaurant offers the typical selection of American offerings you'd expect at any beach hotel such as burgers, pizza and sandwiches. Jennifer at the front desk was amazing. As was Mikil the restaurant manager. A shout-out goes to the whole staff. I would recommend this place for couples, families, or solo travelers. The hotel also has a surf school. While the beach at Playa Bonita is pretty tame you can catch some waves (yay!). It was nice to see some little ones learning how to surf while on vacation. That was cool. This is just a great, relaxing place. I can't recommend it enough.
