We have stayed at many five star holiday hotels around the world, and can say that Hotel Fariones is right up there with the very best. There is nothing bad to say about our week long stay. Room - We booked a sea view junior suite, it was on a lower floor and had an uninterrupted view of the sea and the main beach. It was spotlessly clean and everything in it was high quality. The room was cleaned daily and there was a turn down service in the evening with chocolates. Food and drink - We booked the half board package, which gave us buffet breakfasts and evening meals. The food was really good, some of the best hotel buffet food we have ever had. The bars have all the drinks you'd expect and the prices are not bad for a five star hotel. Service in the restaurant and bars was excellent. Hotel grounds - Immaculate, well manicured and easily the best on the island. There are plenty of sunbeds dotted around so you can select your spot either by the pool of overlooking the beaches. There are two card access glass doors to the beaches so you can wander down and take a swim. Beaches - The hotel is in the prime position, it sits nicely over the main resort beach and smaller semi private beach. Both are sandy and the water is unbelievably crystal clear. We are sea swimmers in the UK so are hardened to cold water, so even in January, the sea was a balmy 19 degrees! Out and about - The hotel is in the prime position for all the attractions of the resort, to the East you can walk or hire a bike and follow the promenade all the way to Arrecife. To the West you can follow the path to the next resort Puerto Calero which is a nice scenic walk, or you can use the water taxi to get there, either way it's worth a visit. There are many restaurants and bars in both directions. We hired bikes from over the road which was great fun and enabled us to explore a bit further. There are also plenty of coach trips to the highlights of the island, Timanfaya is a must. Overall - We loved our stay here. It is one of the best hotels we have stayed in anywhere in the world, and easily the best in the Canary Islands. Great location, grounds, rooms, food, service and beaches. It is definitely worth the premium price. This will now be our winter European hotel - we will be back!
