We visited Quite Simply French in Lancaster last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel special – greeted with a complimentary amuse-bouche, fresh bread with oils, and even a thoughtful anniversary balloon on our table. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely knowledgeable, offering fantastic recommendations that really enhanced our evening. For starters, I had the seafood broil while my husband chose the scallops – both beautifully presented and full of flavour. For mains, I enjoyed the rich and tender beef bourguignon, and he had the wild halibut, which was cooked to perfection. It’s hard to put into words just how enjoyable the whole experience was. The atmosphere, the service, and the quality of the food were all exceptional. It was, quite honestly, one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. We left feeling completely looked after and thoroughly spoiled – the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion. Highly recommended – we’ll definitely be returning!

We booked last minute and arrived very late. We were welcomed warmly. Late checkout was no problem and the Ashton duplex room is the cosiest and most gorgeous place to spend time together. Everything spotless and well thought out. Have a pear negroni and enjoy!!

We stayed in Gillow for 3 nights and couldn’t have been more pleased. The room is huge. The photos don’t do them justice so you will be very happy if you book! This is the first time I’ve been somewhere where the loo is separate to the shower room and it’s a great idea. There’s a free standing bath and the view is of the meadow. The soundproofing is excellent. On arrival we were met by the nicest staff. We are there on the first night and the 2 young blokes were really friendly. We had breakfast one day and my husband had a full English which he loved. I had an omelette but I couldn’t eat it as it was swimming in grease. I should have said something really but I was so happy with my stay I didn’t want to upset anyone. Also, prior to going I’d asked about stairs as I’d had an op. This is an old building without a lift. I still managed the stairs easily. The owner couldn’t have done more to offer support prior to arriving. All in all I’d say this is one of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed. Rooms at the front overlook the river and st the back the meadow.

An absolutely fantastic stay. The room was immaculate and the staff couldn’t have been more attentive. Fantastic value for money. Restaurant was fabulous too. Location was prefect, close to town but along the river away from the busyness.
