...the staff engagement didn't match up to expectations. Of the 4 hotels we've stayed in during our 3 weeks in the Seychelles, this felt the most impersonal, with a noticeable lack of warmth or interest from many (not all!) staff members during our 5 day stay, which we had everywhere else. We would consider coming back again, as we loved La Digue, but not to celebrate a special event, as we never had any acknowledgement that we were on honeymoon except for the initial 1/2 bottle of champers and fruit and a decorated bed...and nor did we ever receive any congratulations from anyone. When we checked out, no one cared to ask how we enjoyed our stay. The restaurant staff were pleasant and helpful, the food was usually good (sadly only white bread at breakfast 😝), really enjoyed the Creole buffet and live music, although the live music on the other evenings took me back to the stuffy hotel lounges of the '80s! Overall, our impression is that this is a hotel that has got a lot right but doesn't really understand/care about treating their guests in a way that makes them feel valued.
