We had a good stay there. The service is good. Room is clean. There are several shops and restaurants nearby. It’s about 8-10mins walk to the nearest subway station. 20-25mins walk to the market. The hotel provides tea, coffee and water at the reception. There are washing machines, ice machine and vending machines on the same floor. Their public bath is clean and good.

The location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk to the Shijo bus stop and 10 minutes to the subway station. With a FamilyMart conveniently located downstairs, all our breakfast and late-night snack needs were covered.
This hotel offers great value for money. The room was quite spacious, featuring a king-size bed that comfortably accommodated two people. It also came with a small sofa and a table. I was particularly pleased with the ample hangers provided.
A delightful surprise was the onsen (hot spring) bath; it was wonderfully relaxing to soak in it every evening after exploring.
My only minor point of confusion was that while the room was tidied daily, the bed itself wasn't made. It would have been nice if they could at least straighten out the sheets a bit.

This is an absolutely wonderful hotel! The top floor features a lounge with stunning views, where you can catch the sunset and the entire Kyoto nightscape in the evening. The surrounding area is packed with dining and drinking options – you'll never have to worry about finding food. In fact, it's so incredibly convenient to eat out that the only challenge is deciding among so many delicious choices! There are also many charming little shops nearby, yet the area isn't noisy or chaotic, creating a truly pleasant and inviting atmosphere. Transportation is excellent, too. I particularly enjoyed the drinks and beer in the lounge; sipping one while watching the sunset in the evening was pure bliss. The hot springs were also excellent. It offers superb value for money, and I will definitely be back!

Upon arrival at the Richmond Premiere Hotel Kyoto Shijo, the spacious and bright lobby immediately captivates. Large floor-to-ceiling windows flood the hotel with natural light, while plants and a flowing water feature outside create a tranquil and elegant atmosphere. There's no traditional check-in counter; guests are seated wherever they please and are greeted by a friendly staff member with a welcome drink. From the outset, the hotel's attentive service is evident.
The hotel's third floor is the heart of the hotel, housing the lobby, restaurant, and lounge. Daily cultural activities are held, and guests are welcome to participate, adding a touch of Kyoto flair to their trip. Guest rooms are located on floors 4 to 8. Elevator access requires keycard access on the third floor, a thoughtful and secure design. A microwave, washing machine, vending machine, and ice machine are located on the sixth floor for added convenience.
Breakfast is a highlight, a refined culinary journey through Kyoto, offering a variety of grilled items, pickles, and small dishes, along with traditional Kyoto cuisine and even breakfast drinks. Indulge in a unique culinary experience from the morning onwards. Snacks are served during afternoon tea, and Happy Hours after 5pm is extremely popular. Whether you want to relax for a moment or have a drink with your travel companions, it is a pleasant time not to be missed during your trip.

I was very satisfied with the room. It was a good size; even with two suitcases fully open, there was plenty of space to walk around. The bathroom featured a practical wet-dry separation but no bathtub. The downstairs lobby offers a dedicated room for luggage storage, which is incredibly convenient for guests. Check-in is from 5 PM, and check-out is by 2 PM. This schedule is particularly friendly for those who arrive in Kyoto in the evening and appreciate not having to rush out with an early check-out. Just over 100 meters to the left of the hotel exit is a FamilyMart convenience store. Diagonally across the street, you'll also find a 7-Eleven.

Located right in the heart of the Shijo commercial district! The front desk staff on the first floor were genuinely handsome and incredibly patient! It's quite rare to see such handsome Japanese men!
And then there's the hotel's rooftop bar! It's truly fantastic and has an incredible 'wow' factor. Imagine sitting there with a drink, soaking your feet, and gazing out at the Kyoto cityscape – you can even spot Kiyomizu Temple, Ninen-zaka, and overlook the Kamo River. It's absolutely wonderful.
The hotel's onsen bath is also incredibly relaxing! I wholeheartedly recommend it – you absolutely won't be disappointed!
However, the rooms are a bit on the small side.

The hotel is close to the subway station and within walking distance to the surrounding attractions.
The hotel offers excellent services and well equipped. There is also a public bath that can be used free of charge.
We stayed in a family room and were able to open all our suitcases at the same time without being in each other's way.
I definitely will stay here again next time when visiting Kyoto.

The ASAI Hotel was my favourite in my Japan trip.
The design is very cool, it’s a young hotel with a nice vibe!
The location is great, it’s close to buses stops, and subway too, plus is an amazing neighbours.
The room was clean and the option to fit the luggage under the bed is great.
We didn’t book the breakfast but they gave you a membership card, and with that you have discounts for the breakfast!

This hotel in Kyoto is conveniently located near Shijo Station on the Karasuma Line, easily accessible from either Exit 3 or Exit 4. If you take Exit 3, cross the street and you'll spot a 7-Eleven. From there, just walk straight ahead, and the hotel will be right in front of you. Once inside, take the elevator directly to the second floor where you'll find the front desk for check-in. Self-service check-in is available, and staff are also on hand to assist if needed. All amenities and toiletries are conveniently located on the second floor for guests to pick up. The room was a decent size, not small at all. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the duvet was truly fluffy – I had no trouble falling asleep. The hotel was spotless, and I was thoroughly satisfied. We stayed for two nights, and the price was very reasonable. It's very close to the subway station, and the surrounding area is quite vibrant.

The location is excellent. Most major attractions are just 20-50 minutes away, and public transport (bus, subway) as well as dining options are incredibly convenient.
The staff all speak fluent and impressive English. Both check-in and check-out are efficiently handled by self-service machines. The breakfast staff were also very presentable and friendly.
I stayed in a twin room. It was a bit on the small side – I'm not overly picky, but the space was indeed compact, so I asked the staff to help open the window for some fresh air. On the bright side, the bathroom and shower area were surprisingly spacious.
Breakfast was nutritious and plentiful. The restaurant itself was a warm, bright, and inviting space with lovely floor-to-ceiling windows. They offered two coffee machines and even matcha lattes!
Some thoughtful highlights include: Room cleaning is performed upon guest request, which is a very eco-friendly approach and avoids unnecessary resource consumption. The smoking room was impeccably clean, and there's complimentary coffee available in the lobby.
Overall, I would definitely choose to stay here again. The geographical location is truly outstanding, and the surrounding area is packed with fantastic eateries. The shopping opportunities are also superb, absolutely unbeatable! (Plus, the Kamo River is right next door).
It's also worth noting that the hotel seems to attract a lot of Western (European and American) guests.

GGuest UserI had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The location is absolutely perfect — right in the heart of Kyoto city. It’s just a short walk to both the train and bus stations, which made getting around super convenient. Plus, it’s very close to major shopping malls Takashimaya where you can buy Marukyu koyamaen matcha. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. They also have a washing machine and dryer available, which is really convenient for longer stays. However, there’s only one of each, so if it gets busy, you might need to wait your turn. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kyoto! They also has nearby Izakaya that the owner was so kind and foreigner friendly welcome.

Very Good
AAnonymous UserPros
- Very good location, easy to connect to train and bus (but a lot of bar in this location)
- nice room, but small (able to live, but no space left when you expand your baggages for 2 people.
Cons
- Air Con control is centralized and temperature might not fitted for everyone (in my case, I got heater opened and need to close the AC to avoid that too warm air)

Very Good
AAnonymous UserThe unit is conveniently located about a 5-minute walk from the train station and near a shopping area, with several good eateries nearby. The unit itself is compact — there are only two double beds, two chairs and a small table, which feels a bit cramped for four medium-sized adults. The balcony gets morning sunlight, which is great for drying clothes.
However, the washing machine filter was dirty and required cleaning before we felt comfortable using it. The kitchen utensils provided were minimal — only 3 forks, 2 spoons, and 2 teaspoons, although there were 4 plates and bowls. It wasn’t quite enough for a group of four. There were also no extra garbage bags provided, so by the end of our few days stay, the bin was nearly overflowing.
The beds were on the soft side — which my children enjoyed — but they made squeaky noises when lying down. Also, do note that there’s no front desk service, so luggage storage before check-in or after check-out is not available.
