The house is a bit old, but it is well maintained. It is a bit small, but very delicate, in Japanese style. The grandma who serves is interesting and cute. The food is exquisite, but the dishes cannot be replaced, and it is a bit wasteful to serve even if you can't eat them. It may be because it is a family hotel model and cannot provide flexible and personalized services. The location is very good, the bathhouse is not big but also very good, the floor mat sometimes has grass thorns to prick your feet, and the sound insulation inside the room is very good when the door is closed.

The hotel is strategically located in the center of Arashiyama Togetsukyo Bridge, just a 10-step walk away. The hotel is Japanese-style and has a long history. Surrounded by old buildings, the hotel has large bedrooms, bathtubs and showers, all standard, with dry and wet separation. The hotel is very clean. The service staff are very considerate and wipe every piece of luggage carefully. The hotel's breakfast and dinner are also great, worth recommending and experiencing. The environment of the restaurant and the quality of the breakfast are very high, and the key service is very considerate.

Stayed here in November 2024 and there's nothing to complain about. The price is high yes, but Hanaikada is a ryokan. You get traditional Japanese experience plus the comforts of western amenities like bidet toilets, hot/cold sinks etc...rooms were huge. the low number of guests also mean low disturbance. Kaiseki dinner had puffer fish and my surprise amused the host. The breakfast serving was so generous that I almost couldn't finish my food. The private onsen was open air and so nice. The tub that you soak in is actually sheltered, so no problems soaking if it rains. It's about a 15 minute walk from Saga-Arashiyama station and Arashiyama station. Otherwise there is another Arashiyama (Tram) station about 10 minutes away, so connectivity is good. I won't mind staying here again if cost is no issue.

Excellently located hotel with most of the rooms overlooking the historic bridge and the river. Excellent welcome, unparalleled hospitality. The shared onsen are quite small, probably you won't expect to stay more than 20/30 minutes. The private open-air onsen is small. To experience the sensations, they are absolutely fine. The dinner is aesthetically superb, the flavors are excellent and adherent to tradition. Sleeping on a futon is an experience that cannot be missed in Japan. Yakuta available and slippers to wander freely throughout the Ryokan. Really worth doing. Well done!

We had lunch here and it was fabulous! Everything was so delicious and the setting was so authentic including the best service I have ever experienced. We also booked the private bath that was a perfect water temperature for our rainy afternoon and left us relaxed and warmed throughout our day.
