This word is the origin of the name of each room.
It is a motto that expresses the spirit of the tea ceremony.
The words ‘wa’ and ‘kei’ both refer to the spirit of the host and guest, while ‘sei’ and ‘sabi’ refer to the spirit of the tea garden, the tea room and the tea utensils.
The mottoes mean that the master and guests should be at peace with each other, respect each other, and keep the tea room furnishings and the atmosphere of the tea ceremony clean.
