Alma Boutique Hotel

Not worth 5 stars. We have a lot of experience with five-star hotels, and this hotel absolutely does not meet those standards! We recently stayed here for 8 days. Upon arrival, the hotel looks nice and attractive. The rooms are spacious, it has a nice pool, and the staff is friendly. The manager was present during the week we were there, and he was very kind. The food is okay, but definitely not special. The breakfast buffet is very basic and not extensive. The bread baskets they serve at every meal are filled with old bread from previous days (tough and hard). The hotel has few facilities and doesn’t organize anything. There’s little atmosphere, no music, nothing. There is one restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The beach nearby is nice for a short time, with the sea within walking distance, but later in the day, it’s covered in seaweed, and swimming becomes difficult. Power outages are frequent. The gym equipment doesn’t work! The cross trainer only has an on/off button, but nothing else happens, and the same goes for the bike. When you go to eat, the staff hovers around you, which doesn’t feel comfortable and makes you not want to linger at the table. You feel constantly watched. When you’re lying on the beach, the staff barely comes by to offer drinks or anything else. The location is also mediocre, with few nice bars or restaurants around the hotel, except for ”Scooby Doo.” Paje is a 10-minute drive away. Maybe this hotel would be suitable for older people who want to relax for a few days, but for young people like us (26 and 28), definitely not! A waste of money!! The reason we choose 5-star hotels is because they offer extra luxuries, better service, and more facilities. So, honestly, we feel a bit deceived.
Konokono Beach Resort and Isaraya Luxury Overwater Villas

The villa is very beautiful and peaceful. Stayed there for 12 nights with my boyfriend and we enjoyed the villa so much. All the staff are super friendly and ready to always assist to your satisfaction. The food is very tasty and always freshly made. They are not a five star villa for nothing, They deserve more stars ❤️❤️❤️❤️ This is a very safe environment as well.
Karafuu Beach Resort & Spa

Absolute paradise! Hotel staff are impossibly welcoming, rooms are clean and the whole resort looks like a large botanical garden. A great, quiet place with excellent food and a fully equipped gym. Also on site is a great boutique with gift items, clothing and accessories. Prices are more than favorable. A large bonus-in the resort grounds there is a doctor present 24/7. High-level ambulances, clean, great care /judging from my point of view, I'm a nurse/. I recommend and thank for the whole family from Europe /Czech Republic/
Baraza Resort and Spa Zanzibar

Baraza was the one place where I’ve stayed where it feels like the staff genuinely care that everything is going well. In the evenings our host would often check in with us to make sure we had everything we needed or if we wanted to book anything for the coming days. We can’t thank Nathalie and Adriano enough, and even more thanks to the team at the resort including the leaders of Simone, Anthony and Regina. The villas are amazing. My son and I were traveling together and we really enjoyed the 2-bedroom suite we shared. Plenty of space, and we used the private plunge pool more than we thought we would. It was especially a great spot to cool down before bed! Cosmas and Angela made sure that everything was taken care of, along with our plans for each day. On that point, if you go, we thoroughly recommend the village tour. It was very real and basic, but a fascinating local experience, and we learned so much from our caring and informative guide. The food was delicious and there was a great variety, including locations. There were two dinner restaurants and one night they moved all the tables out to the pool for a poolside dinner. Most nights there was a band or other music while we ate. Some great local performers. Dinner was usually a set menu, and breakfast and lunch were buffet. It is worth noting that even during the buffets, the team was happy to bring any prepared food back to our tables so we didn’t have to wait for them. A very nice touch. The dining team was as good as the others: Peresia and Zacharia made sure that our evening meals were everything we wanted. Hidaya made sure breakfast was perfect, and all supported by the rest of the dining team. A shout out also to Hamad for our Swahili lessons, and Arafah for our wonderful lunch on the beach. The pool, beach, spa and gym were all great. It is a very spacious resort and there was never an issue of finding a spot at the beach or at the pool. No need to rush down in the morning and throw towels on a chair – there was always space. And once you were “parked” you could walk away for hours and the staff would make sure that was protected for you. Overall, the staff were very attentive. One day we had just gotten back from a kayak and before we even sat down there was a fresh cold bottle of water waiting at our beach spot. MuSa and the staff at the water sports stand were great. We went kayaking most days and they would let us know when the best time to go out. One of the other highlights was the bar staff. Geoffrey, Isaac and Mtawa always made sure our drinks were topped up around the pool or beach and wanted to check in with us at the end of the day as we relaxed with a drink before dinner. Baraza is an incredibly beautiful and serene place. Over the top staff attentiveness and I’m sure there’s an army working behind the scenes. It is a great place to chill and relax. If you’re looking for buzz, action, loud music, etc, this is not the place for you. I
The Residence Zanzibar

TL;DR - you need to go here, it's incredible. Super kind people, incredible views, villas, and vibes. This hotel was the best we have ever been to, and for many reasons. Combination of the view, atmosphere, food, kindness, activities all added to an incredible experience for our honeymoon. We loved our time here, and are already planning on going back in the future. Not just that, but every single person here was incredibly kind -- maybe it's culture of the country, or the culture of this hotel, but every person made us feel actually *appreciated* and felt like we were genuinely welcome and happy to have us there. We have been to many hotels, all with nice staff with professional courtesy, but never truly welcome as if by a friend to their home. Amazing time!
