Niraamaya Wellness Retreats Backwaters and Beyond Kumarakom

Getting There - 2hrs drive from Kochi airport. The hotel arranged for a transfer taxi. 5,000/- one way. Arrival- Welcomed with chandan tika, welcome drink, cold towel and a big smile by the staff. Room- Got it early then the checkin time. Rooms are big, well lit with good views. But they need a lot of maintenance and refurbishment. Hotel- Green, peaceful, clean. Food & Restaurants - Only 1 restaurant with limited menu. But everything we ordered was delicious and good in portion size.

A lovely property set on the lake in Kumarakom. I spent five peaceful days there, enjoying the serene setting and attentive service. After an initial hiccup with my accommodation, I was moved to a beautiful lakefront room. Some of the rooms could benefit from a refresh ahead of the busy season! The staff were thoughtful and attentive—whether it was picking up sharifa and guavas for me or offering fresh coconut water after each spa treatment, they took care of the small details with care. The Ayurvedic treatments and yoga sessions were excellent—thank you to the Swathy and Athul for their skill and warmth. A special thank you to Chef Arun, who went out of his way to prepare authentic Kerala dishes, take me to the local fish market and the nearby temple, and help me shop for spices. Also grateful to Libin for showing me the water lily extravaganza—what a treat! And a heartfelt thank you to the team behind the scenes – Prasuna, Shibeesh, Devika and Vishnu who made all of this possible.

Great place to detox ourself from all the rush . Family and kids enjoyed to the fullest . Hospitality was good and well behaved staff , especially the F& B incharge madam . Always with a smiling face . Well maintained . Would come back again

Stayed July 10, 2025 – Day 7 in India
 After a wonderful stay at Niraamaya’s sister property in Athirapally, our driver Rajilesh brought us to this beautiful retreat in Kumarakom. From the moment we arrived, the experience was special. We were warmly greeted by Pradip, who took care of all our luggage with such ease and kindness. The check-in process with Vishnu was smooth and welcoming. The property itself took our breath away. Surrounded by backwaters and lush greenery, it reminded me so much of being in Maui or Kauai — tranquil, tropical, and full of natural beauty. Our daughters, aged 5 and 7, were instantly in love, running around the spacious lawns and playing freely. It felt peaceful and safe. While checking in, we had the pleasure of meeting Gourav Deb, the Chief of Operations. From the very first moment, he was warm, thoughtful, and so sweet with our girls. His genuine kindness made us feel completely at home, like we were visiting family rather than checking into a resort. He checked in on us throughout our stay and went out of his way to create magical moments for our children. Since we arrived around high tea time, we were introduced to Chef Arun who offered us delicious banana fritters ***** with freshly made coffee and chai. The girls explored the beautifully maintained grounds while we relaxed and soaked it all in. We were then escorted to our cottage, and we were truly blown away. The view of the backwaters was absolutely stunning, and the cottage itself felt luxurious and serene. We had our own private pool, and the large, airy bathroom added to the comfort. Our girls couldn’t wait to jump into the pool and had the best time splashing around. Dinner was specially arranged with a kids' menu including chicken nuggets, mushroom soup, and a chicken burger — thoughtfully made without spice as requested, although the nuggets turned out a bit too spicy for the little ones. They enjoyed the soup and burger, though. For the adults, the chef prepared prawn tawa fry, coconut rice, appam, chicken ishtoo, and fish wrapped in banana leaf — I believe it’s called curry meen. While the coconut rice was a highlight, we found the fish here had a strong odor, many bones, and was quite different from the one we enjoyed at a local toddy shop earlier in the day, which had been full of flavor. The chicken ishtoo also wasn’t to our taste, and overall, the meal didn’t meet our expectations. My husband was disappointed and decided that while we’d absolutely return to the resort, we’d likely explore other dining options next time. Breakfast was also a bit underwhelming compared to our experience at Niraamaya Athirapally. My husband preferred the dosa at the previous location, and the kids were disappointed that the donuts they were promised didn’t appear. That said, Ashwin provided excellent service during both dinner and breakfast — he was warm, respectful, and took great care of us. The next morning brought one of our favorite moments. We saw Go

An excellent stay. I went to celebrate my birthday with my family and we had a memorable stay. Special thanx to the chef Arun for making our stay comfortable. Since my booking Arun was in continuous touch.. And believe me.. He left no stone unturned to ensure that we have a fantastic stay. He upgraded our room and also did a nice decoration for the special occasion. The rooms are very spacious and completely surrounded by trees. Bathroom is next level and very spacious with open and close shower ***** with bathtub. The highlight was plunge pool with a view of lake. Also the reception staff was very courteous and helpful. I also liked the concept of niraamaya Resort where in they focus on guests relaxation and comfortable stay. The entire staff was very well trained and kudos to team niraamaya for training them well. If you are looking for luxury stay and premium service and budget is not a constrained I strongly recommend niraamaya.

We had a mixed experience at Niramayya Retreats Kumarakom, starting with some miscommunication from the corporate sales booking team. However, upon arrival, the resort's lush green surroundings and warm hospitality instantly lifted our spirits. Despite the initial issues, the team went above and beyond to rectify them. The food was exceptional, thanks to Chef Arun and his team. Manager Sujeet Nair's approachable and solution-oriented attitude truly impressed us. The staff's attentiveness and prompt resolution of our concerns made our stay memorable. Overall, we'd highly recommend Niramayya Retreats Kumarakom for its beautiful grounds, delicious food, and exceptional hospitality. The team's dedication to making our stay special despite initial hiccups is commendable.
