The Spiski Palace Apartments

Afew nights with child in central Krakow Main entrance off main square but then through buildings and a square and up 100 steps (no lift) afterwards. Lock box worked fine, noisy times including early in morning setting up. Room looked lovely, but quality was basic, no table or anywhere to easily eat food (strange when has cooking facilities; well stocked for coffee tea etc; no luggage storage (about 20 minute walk?) so paid for a pace round the corner. It wasn’t the quality, size, comfort and services I had hoped for but was adequate for price. I hadn’t realised Krakow was so pricey so hadn’t been able to judge quality based on price. But I would expect better for this price in UK.

What can we say about this place. Excellent location right behind the main square and big rooms. The apartment overlooks a courtyard that is owned by someone else. The management warned us 25minutes prior to arrival that they would be an event in the courtyard that we could attend if we wished. We had 2 children with us. What they failed to tell us is that this event started at midnight and finished at 6am!! We have since learnt from people in the courtyard that these are regular events, sometimes weekly! I am not exaggerating when I say that this event was a Rave! Strobe lighting that lit up the bedroom and loud, thumping music! The sign inside the apartment says quiet times are between 22:00 and 06:00. Anyone not complying will be charged 600PLN. The 3rd night there, a drunk man was banging on our door in the middle of the night trying to get in. When we returned and complained to the apartment management company, we were told that they had informed us about the event and that we had the choice to move to another apartment and that it was our fault for staying. They even sent the messages they sent us back to us as proof of this. Not once did they inform us if we were unhappy we could move apartment and as we had booked it on non cancellation we did not know that was an option. They also never told us that it was an all night event. All of which is vital information. Despite the fact we had proof they hadn't told us this and the fact that they say they will fine occupants if they do not be quiet, they refused to give us any compensation towards the lack of sleep and the disruption to our children. Avoid this place at all costs if you are staying in krakow on a Friday or Saturday evening and would like to get any sleep!!! We are now taking this up with our credit card company as the apartment management needs to let people know more clearly what they may be in for so they can make an informed choice.

Brilliant position on the city centre Square Happy with the apartment read some bad reviews but we really enjoyed the stay Furnishings represent the age of the building everything was clean plenty of pillows and sheets lots of clean fresh towels in bathroom water is hot all the time Only negative we had was the stairs to the bedroom which were very steep and top step was deeper than the rest We are both in mid sixties and found the stairs difficult Can be noisy at night but we had earplugs provided in bedroom Apartment number 1 so we had no stairs to climb other than bedroom stairs Your holiday is what you make it and we certainly enjoyed our holiday and stay in Spiski Palace apartments Thank you for a wonderful stay

The property is amazing, stunningly beautiful with its age and amazing location. Only downfall that needs to be addressed is there are quite a few nails in old flooring that are sticking out and need to be hammered in properly nearly ripped foot on them a few times..... That aside and im sure can be fixed easily highly recommend this property and would love to come back...
