Great location, but bad accommodation
The surroundings are fantastic, perfect for climbing, and the beach is beautiful. You can only get to the place by boat, which makes it special. The accommodation offers a fire show in the evening, and late check-in was possible.
Unfortunately, that's where the positive aspects end: catastrophic sanitary facilities, no soap, a single roll of toilet paper. No electricity during the day. Bed rock hard, cockroach in the room - not surprising in the jungle, but still unpleasant.
The worst: food poisoning after dinner in the restaurant, spent the night on the miserable toilet. Reception showed zero interest in reporting it to the kitchen, no help with the pharmacy or onward travel.
Conclusion: If you really have no demands at all, you might be fine - I can't recommend it.

This place is less about the accommodation, and more about the experience living in the jungle of Tonsai. The room is simple, not the cleanest, very remote and extremely hot (can be a struggle to cool down when no electricity for 12 hours a day), BUT, the location is amazing and the fellow travellers you meet out here are great. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for something less luxurious, but more of a tropical experience in the jungle.

Good proximity to Railay beach, although you do have to walk through a jungle to get to it. Alternatively pay the long tail boats 300THB to take you there. Would normally cost 50THB but there’s no one else on Tonsai beach so you’d be waiting a while. Staff were friendly enough. No electricity between 3am and 6pm. Room was clean but very hot when the fan went off. No hot water, plug sockets didn’t work very well and was very loud if any mopeds went past.

This place is okay for what it is but you’re paying so little because of its location and quality compared to the other places around it. There’s only electricity from 6pm to 6am. No AC, just a fan. If you’re just planning on hanging out at the beach and not spending time inside and just need a place to sleep then this is okay. Or you’re looking for a “chill” place to just hang out, this is also okay.

We enjoyed our stay in the bungalows. Everything went smoothly, they are very hospitable. The bungalows are spacious although some maintenance is lacking, they served us well.

Amazing location, difficult to walk too so boat is best option unless you like hiking/climbing with your bags. Gorgeous beach very chilled
