Palm Leaf Resort Koh Tao

We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights in early June. The main thing I want to note is that if anyone plans to swim at Sairee Beach, including the area around this hotel, check the tide chart. During our stay, the water level was knee-deep and only after 4 pm, it was impossible to go further because the corals start to get sharp. The hotel owners, like many others here, were not very helpful, but this did not spoil our overall impression of the hotel. We rented a bike for 2 days from them for 250 baht per day with a deposit of 1,000 baht, it was not very new, quite worn out, but overall there were no complaints. There is a very good hotel nearby with a beautiful pool, where we swam on the condition of visiting their restaurant (the restaurant is not bad, but the food is quite expensive for Koh Tao). There are taxi boats near the hotel, which we took twice for snorkeling (3 hours for 2000 baht), which is much better than the excursion for 50 people that the hotel will try to sell you.

Great location, quiet but close to food and entertainment. The restaurant has Thai food, more expensive than at the crossroads, but the same price as a lot of places on the embankment. We mostly ate elsewhere.

Een pure ervaring in een huisje op het strand met een gastvrije eigenaresse Fon die er alles aan doet om je verblijf zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken. Voor een paar euro kun je er een kano huren en naar het het (snorkel)paradijs Nang Yuan varen. Op de heenweg waren er wat golven en wind en deden we er een uur over. Op de terugweg was de wind gaan liggen en was het slechts een half uur varen. Verwacht geen luxe of andere faciliteiten dan je huisje bij Palm Leaf. Er zijn een paar huisjes direct op het strand waarvan wij er een hadden. Die raad ik je van harte aan. Zo heerlijk om vanaf je heerlijke bed op het strand en de zee te kijken. Het strand wordt goed schoongehouden. Als het hard waait spoelt er van alles aan. Dat wordt in alle vroegte weggehaald door Fon en haar team. Rechts van Palm Leaf is een goed en gastvrij restaurant Rim Lae waar je goed kunt ontbijten, lunchen, borrelen en dineren. Verder regelt Fon al het andere wat je kunt doen zoals snorkel- en duiktrips, scooters, taxi’s etc. Voor wie van puur leven en genieten houdt, is dit de plek.
