Charming, secluded luxury escape. The staff, and the service overall, were attentive, friendly and always eager to help. Although slightly remote, it’s only a short taxi away from more lively areas if that’s what you want. The hotel itself is peaceful and perfect for ‘unplugging’. It’s not part of an international chain and that adds to the charm, with a friendly local feeling. It also means it’s slightly more rustic than your typical chain too.
We took a boat trip arranged through the hotel which was excellent. They also hired and delivered scooters for us at competitive rates. Probably the highlight was the in-villa bbq which was sensational. The food here really is good, with plenty of local options too. Although the onsite dining options may appear limited online, each of the 3 locations really delivered with extensive and varied menus.
A great stay.

The Hotel staff are very friendly especially Kuant the restaurant manager. The breakfast is very good and varies from day to day. The hotel location is ideal just far enough out of Lamai town to be relatively peaceful but close enough to walk to and from comfortably. Great view from the restaurant overlooking the small fishing boat cove. They’re going to be introducing vegan food to the menu and concentrating on the wellness centre with Yoga classes etc. We stayed 7 days and had a very enjoyable stay. Mint the reservation (GSA) was especially helpful. The first room we stayed in unfortunately, the air-conditioning fan broke and she happily moved us to another room, extremely good service with a smile. The maids cleaned the room and made the beds every day. The Hotel is a little rundown I.e. the decor needs some TLC some of the decking needs replacing which I’m sure will be done soon as it’s under new management.

Wow. Ok, where to start? I read a LOT of TripAdvisor reviews when planning a trip, and understand that reviews are often a result of the expectations one sets for themselves when anticipating a trip/vacation. That said, while most of the reviews of this property are 5-Star, after researching the property, my own expectations were simply premium accommodations, a quiet retreat-like atmosphere, and a good restaurant. What my wife and I experienced was a full-on 5 (6 if the scale were higher) star resort in every sense. If you are looking for a peaceful, discrete and rejuvenating retreat complete with outstanding and prompt personalized service all in a lush natural tropical setting with supreme ocean views, then look no further, Banyan Tree Samui is it. I could write at length about our experience here, but I know you have a lot of reviews to read if you're like me. So here are most of the Highlights: 1. Fabulous accommodations - super comfortable bed/linens; separate bedroom/living/bath areas all with floor to ceiling windows offering spectacular sea views (IF you get the best villas). Walk-in shower w/large rectangular rain showerhead was brilliant. Pool was sparkling clean and allowed for ultimate cooling/relaxation in the warm temps all while taking in the incredible views. Additional outdoor seating area(s) for enjoying the outside. 2. Staff - Wonderful; THE epitome of hospitable. Super friendly, and always eager to immediately assist with even the smallest of requests. Dada (villa host), Golf, Lek (massage therapist), Jane, all serving staff and buggy drivers, even landscapers we passed throughout the grounds - ALL incredibly pleasant and eager to please. 3. Dining - Breakfast spread (hate to call it a buffet because that makes it sound tacky) was incredible. Multiple hot and cold options, western and Asian dishes, full baked goods/pastries selection, fresh fruits, cold cuts, fresh juices, multiple coffee options. Dinner at Saffron was outstanding. A few reviews have mentioned Saffron as being just average, but the food (including portion size), flavors, and as aforementioned, the servers were all terrific. Yes, it's more expensive than getting dinner at a local Thai joint in town (an obvious point made in another review), but you're at a 5-star resort with top-notch service and very special ambiance being pampered as a resort guest. But to give you an idea of ”expensive” (a very relative term): two appetizers, two soups, two entrees, and two desserts, plus non-alcoholic beverages - $105.00 US dollars. Any fine dining, high-end restaurant in a big city in the USA will cost you triple that. 4. The Spa should not be missed. Incredible massage treatments/experiences provided by very experienced and professional therapists all done in traditional Thai fashion. Wonderful. 5. Incidentals: The resort is mostly non-walkable meaning that you are either in your villa (but that's why you come here; your villa is an oasis) or at one of the

It was a perfect week spent other there. The decoration of this hotel based on the Thai boxing is exploited in every details. The room is very beautiful , have space , the bed is confortable and the view on the ocean is amazing. The location of the hotel is perfect for every tourist place and the access to the private beach is just amazing. The breakfast is very delicious and very fresh , it is changing every day and the fact that it is an « à la carte » menu is much more better than a classic buffet. The best is the staff , from the people at the swimming pool , the bar , the restaurant , the spa , the reception , the muai thaï trainer. All of them were just amazing , kind , friendly , very polite and respectful. Always would like to help us for any subject. I highly recommend this hotel if you want a relaxing time and perfect time.

Very good, excellent. Breakfast is very good and delicious. There is a bar to sit in. The restaurant is decorated comfortably, clean. All staff are smiling and lovely. Every level of service is impressive. I recommend it if anyone wants a comfortable place to stay and a new, clean hotel with parking and a swimming pool. It is in the city, not far from Lamai Beach. Walk 5 minutes to the beach.

We vacationed with our family in May 2023. Everything is great. Excellent rooms, service, excellent breakfasts. We lived in two rooms: Garden Villa and standard. Great pool. Excellent sea, the entrance is not too shallow and not too deep. The hotel's location is in the very center of the Lamai beach coastline with many restaurants and massage centers. BUT!!! I again booked and paid for two rooms for 2024 through trip.com. After that, I emailed the hotel to confirm that they had received the payment and were seeing these 2 reservations. There is still no answer. If hotel representatives see this review, please contact me immediately by email (if the hotel’s email is temporarily out of order, please write to me from your personal email).

My recent three-night stay at the Renaissance Koh Samui was an enchanting journey, filled with an exceptional level of service that beautifully compensated for the hotel's aging facilities. From the outset, the resort's fusion of Asian and Thai architectural elegance warmly welcomed us, accentuated by the delicate blend of styles and the presence of wood-clad interior columns, real wood floors and furniture. This seamless integration of tradition and geographical context, with brick and tropical roof tiles, created a captivating atmosphere. The lush foliage and well-grown trees embraced the surroundings, creating a vivid backdrop that captured the essence of the beachfront location. While time had etched its marks on the facility, the fusion of architectural styles and natural elements into the design remained a captivating feature. Our overall experience was outstanding, even as we encountered a few unforeseen challenges. On our second night, our beachfront BBQ plans were thwarted by the weather. The staff's quick thinking and adaptability came to the forefront as they seamlessly transitioned the venue to an indoor space. The speed and willingness with which the entire BBQ setup was moved indoors showcased the dedication to providing the best service possible. Moreover, on our third night, the pool bar staff went above and beyond by suggesting a private beachfront dinner to make up for the previous night's interruption. Though this well-intentioned plan was again impacted by the weather, their commitment to ensuring our satisfaction remained unwavering. What truly set this experience apart was the unwavering dedication of the staff. Their warmth and attentiveness overshadowed any inconveniences we faced. The restaurant and bar team, led by K. Woody, Honey, and Ken, consistently exceeded our expectations. Their personalized service made us feel genuinely valued as guests. The culinary journey, particularly the breakfast led by Executive Chef Chef Seng, was a delight. Despite the aging signs of the facilities, the culinary offerings maintained an impeccable standard. The coconut water coffee, and Samui Egg Benedict were exceptional, showcasing Chef Seng's expertise in curating a blend of local and international flavors. In summary, my stay at the Renaissance Koh Samui was a testament to the power of exceptional service to transcend the limitations of aging facilities. The resort's captivating fusion of architectural styles, the embracing of its environment, and the staff's dedication created a memorable retreat. The team's responsiveness, especially during weather-related interruptions, demonstrated their commitment to guest satisfaction. As I reflect on my stay, it is clear that the warmth of hospitality and the genuine care extended by the team are what truly define the Renaissance Koh Samui.

My husband and I stayed at Rockys for 7 nights on October...we had the best experience. The resort is beautiful and the staff so obliging and friendly. We had a few meals in the restaurant and the daily breakfast - the food was amazing and of such a high quality. We enjoyed a complimentary cocktail evening and a fire show. Our unit had everything we could desire - comfortable bed and large bathroom. The pools were both great and the beach was beautiful and the ocean good to swim in - we also used the kayak and there are paddleboards and sand shoes available to use. Arianna the front Manager was so helpful. We would highly recommend.

Stayed here for a week. On arrival, no welcome drink - nothing! We have been coming to Thailand for a few years and this was the first hotel with nothing! Asked for a quiet room with additional pillows! And we were allocated 2205! Generally a quiet room. We had booked to come to this hotel several times but was cancelled due to covid so this was the third booking and great that we finally made it here! The hotel offer no breakfast or food! But there are enough places to eat locally! We tried them all! From the French windmill place to the Thai restaurant offering an English breakfast! I would suggest you avoid them and eat with the locals at the local fresh food market - cross the main road outside the hotel and walk through the petrol station! Two fried eggs with boiled rice - 30bts! Sticky rice and mango 60bts! Slice of watermelon 10 bts! Then walk along the main road towards the Tesco Lotus and you will find a metal cube called HOP. Girl makes you anything you’d like for 20 bts! Cheap! The hotel is well located! Walking distance to the Lamai Sunday market as well as loads of restaurants and places to eat and drink… out of the main road of the hotel, turn left and first right! Walk straight up the road for about ten/15 minutes! We loved this place! And will definitely be coming back next year!

Lovely relaxed hotel, best swimming pools in Samui, but not over busy! Great rooms, very clean and spacious. Wonderful staff! Excellent Western and Asian breakfast choices! 3 Minute walk to the beach if that is what you want and 1 minute walk to the lively town center for bars restaurants and shops. Had a week there last September and now booked for another 3 weeks in April 2024! Highly recommend!

GGuest UserWe stayed 5 nights in this hotel. The hotel is very well located close to everything (restaurants, scooter rental, various shops...). The beach (accessible directly from the hotel) is maintained and equipped for hotel guests. Two swimming pools complete the decor. We had booked a room with a swimming pool. The room is spacious and well equipped and it has a very pleasant terrace at the end of the day. The swimming pool, although small, is also very nice. The breakfast is very complete and very good. We appreciated the shuttle service offered by the hotel when the stay is longer than three nights. Finally, the staff is adorable. We had a very pleasant stay and we will return to this hotel on our next visit to Koh Samui.

GGuest UserI don’t often write reviews, but always use them to make choices when looking to stay here. I booked this hotel to stay at for my son’s 10th birthday in January 2024. The room I booked was no refundable, but having read reviews I was happy to take the risk. 2 hours before we were due to travel there we received an email to say that their pool was closed due to unplanned renovations. Let’s be honest, this is the hotels only real selling point and the whole reason I booked it in the first place. Disappointed, we had no choice but to travel to the hotel to discuss things with their team in person. Arriving at the hotel it was a mess, almost looked derelict. Whoever took their hotel photos needs a pay rise, put it that way. It was clear that the work wasn’t unplanned, and in fact had been going on for some time. Letting guests know on the day they travel is obviously a ploy to prevent confrontation. We were told that we had the use of a pool at their sister hotel, 15 minutes away by shuttle. This runs every 2/3 hours. Not the fairy tail birthday I had in mind for my son if I’m honest. To compound things, the hotel refused to refund me my money and I had to pay again to stay at a hotel that was able to provide the facilities it promised. Looking back at the hotel, there were clear signs. They haven’t had a positive review since 2021, that tells its own story. If you are thinking of staying here, please don’t. You will end up disappointed as we were

GGuest UserThe whole ambience and communicate was excellent! After having numerous surgeries the owners were so kind and attentive to all my queries and requirements. I ended up booking a month then more! Super clean, safe, excellent communication and within a few strides to the beautiful Crystal Lamai ocean. Many shops and food, massage places all within walking distance too.

GGuest UserMe and 3 other friends stayed here in January 2023. We all cannot speak highly enough of this hotel as from the owners to location, everything was great! Please be advised that as this property is near the main nightlife area of Lamai, it may become noisy on some nights should there be any special occasions events happening. The beach is a few minute walk from your room with all major restaurants also nearby. 100% recommend!
