We were writing this review with information we would have liked even though we did do a lot of research. Check in: Our room wasn't ready due to our early flight but this didn't bother us. However we found the check in very minimal, we weren't given any information about anything really. No food times, bar times, towel info nothing really. Probably the most laid back check in we have ever had. Food: We personally couldn't fault the food, yes it wasn't the hottest but for us there was enough variety. However, people with children I have no idea what they would eat. They don't have chips or any other food like that. They did mini pizzas one day but all of the fish and meats are in sauces so I think fussy eaters would really struggle. Queues did get long for eggs and omletes in the mornings but we found if you went before 8.15am you would be okay. The pasta line did also get busy for lunch and dinner if you didn't get there early. You can only have wine and beer with your dinner and soft drinks too but this didn't affect us. Beach: The sand on Kiwengwa beach is probably the whitest softest sand we have ever seen. However, we were very disappointment with the amount of rubbish on the hotels parts of the beach. Every morning my wife and I would spend 15/20 mins picking up plastic, fruit, cigarette packets from around our beds. As people who respect our planet we were shocked at the lack of care taken with the beach. If you are looking to be able to relax and freely walk along the beach or go in the ocean then not only do I not think this hotel isn't for you but I would reconsider Zanzibar. Every morning the hotel security draw a line in the sand that the Maasai cannot pass. Every day around 9am easily 30-40 Maasai people will stand on the beach basically stopping you from walking freely to the ocean. Please do your research of these people before you think about engaging with them or buying from them. On our trips we learned from local Zanzibar people that the Maasai are not local people. And have come from either the mainland or other parts of Africa purely to sell magnets and football shirts. They will literally walk the whole length of the beach with you, stop you from entering the ocean and even shout and whistle to you whilst you're trying to relax. I would research their culture as well before considering engaging with them. Room: We were located in room 109, which is close to reception. You do get WiFi if you're lucky sat outside in the front. This block is one of the older blocks but it didn't bother us, it was perfect for us. We've visited different parts of Africa and this room was the same standard that we've seen throughout. However, we did have issues with our Air con. The first night we woke up to what sounded like a helicopter trying to land outside only to find out it was our Aircon. We turned the light on to find it had flooded our room and was making the loudest noise we've ever heard. As it was 3qm we just turned i
