The onsen is big and amazing. The buffet dinner and breakfast are sumptuous with quality food! The room is spacious and comfortable. The only setback is the hotel is quite old and dated in the common places. With the quality food and best onsen, it's still a value for money hotel to be in.

Very nice resort in the Kirishima mountains. Nice big rooms with a nice balcony. Free shoju is provided in the lobby nightly. Lots of toys and activities for families and kids. Great public onsen area with numerous indoor and outdoor pools. Great selection for dinner and breakfast buffets.

Everything just average! Buffet dinner very disappointed, taste of the food just average and not many choices, breakfast is normal. I may not come again next time.

Hot spring hotel in an area renowned for its hot springs. I deliberately chose the Japanese tatami-style to experience more of the local culture. As you can see from the photos, the view from my room was really nice! I also like the fact that both dinner and breakfast were included, as there isn't much around. Very comfortable stay overall, but mind you - the smell of sulphur (possibly?) from the hot springs is always there!

Great and serviceable. The location takes time to get to but you can manage a 40 minute bus ride it’s worth it. The water is so relaxing and the onsen is amazing to see. Great for families.

My sincerest gratitude to the professional service and helpfulness of the front desk staff in particular the Div. Manager, Mr. Atsuyoshi Kubota, who patiently search for available medical service during late hours for treating my wife's injury and also voluntarily arrange a staff to accompany us to the hospital. Ram Kumar, the accompanying staff, is instrumemental in our communication to the medical personnels and he is so kind to arrange late dinner for us at the hotel's discretion. They not only demonstrate the highest level of professionalism but also their genuine care of the well being of the customers. Once again, big big thanks to Mr. Kubota and his team of beautiful people. By the way, good breakfast and dinner, both in terms of the menu as well as service and venue.

It's a revamped hotel with new facilities! The tidiness and clean impressed me! The breakfast and dinner buffet were in good quality as well especially the beef. Highly recommend!

Next to Maruo Onsen Station, you can see Sakurajima if the weather is good. The hot spring is a sulfur spring, which is very beautiful in white and blue. There is also a hot spring steam sauna. I came to Kagoshima on a solo trip this time. I've always liked hot spring inns, so I decided to stay at Kirishima Kokusai Hotel in Kirishima Onsen. The staff were polite and the place was comfortable. And the breakfast buffet was delicious, with a variety of dishes including chicken rice, a dish unique to Kagoshima. Very close to Maruo Station, just a few minutes walk. The hotel is big and business is good. The hot spring is an authentic sulfur hot spring. You can also walk to Maruo Hot Spring Waterfall. The Big Wave Pool is recommended. The scenery is unique.

The indoor hygiene level was within my acceptable range. I didn't have high expectations for an old-style hot spring hotel, but the balcony looked a bit dirty. From the airport you can take a bus directly to the hotel. After getting off at Maruo, you need to go up a slope. Most guests check in by car, and the hotel also has a parking lot.
